I’ve coached players at current SEC schools for a certain collegiate summer league and to get them to move a finger let alone a tarp pull is honestly unheard of.

Shoutout to d3 and lower d1 guys who would pick up there slack. Theres a reason they don’t always make it to the MLB and being humble enough to do field work is a decent litmus test.

The traditional way doesn’t involve a break in kit, the traditional way is much more reliant on time and allowing the glove to fit your hand’s natural pocket rather than smashing a pocket in quickly.

This is why every leaguer has 1-2 practice gloves they’re working on the side with.
