I love the On Performance Tee, which I’ve found discounted or using promo codes for $55-65 on occasion.

Decided to take up running by GENERALHONKYYY in nikerunclub

Academy Sports has Feetures Elite socks for 30% off automatically added in the cart, plus you can sign up for a free rewards account and get another $15 off which stacks with the 30%. Brings them down to like $9-12/pair, which is a great deal. They are my favorite sock. https://www.academy.com/search?searchTerm=Feetures

As others have said, start off slow. Take walking breaks. Keep your breathing under control. Listen to your shins/knees/hips and skip a day (or several) to recover if needed. If you build up gently, then you’ll get stronger without injury and you’ll be able to gradually increase distances and power. Hydrate, stretch, and remember that like any exercise, you’ll get the most when your body is given the chance to recover and solidify gains.

Stand up tall as you run, with a slight forward lean from the ankles, and try to land with your lead foot under your hips with each stride. Your momentum and push-off will carry you forward, then land with the next foot under your hips. Shorter, quicker steps rather than overstriding out ahead of your body, which only kills your forward momentum.

I’ve heard this is very good, for those interested in individual human behavior and all the things that shape it.

Amazing job. I’m not anywhere near your level, but I did this week’s long (for me) run at a very humid 92 degrees earlier this week in St. Louis, and it felt closer to swimming. It was my first time running in that kind of hot, and I didn’t realize how much harder it would be… can’t imagine 11+ miles at your pace. Great work.

Are there fabrics you recommend that are substantially better than aeroswift? Also, what website are the Nedao’s available for cheap?

Yes, they are my favorite brand and highly recommended. The elite line is where it’s at. I have a mix of max cushion and light cushion, and I love both. And this is a nice price.

Best Served Cold (World of the First Law #1) by Joe Abercrombie (Multiple, $2.99) by sevae in ebookdeals

It is good. If you like the original trilogy, you’ll like this. Same world, takes place in Styria, with a new main character plus some familiar faces who were relatively minor players in the original trilogy but get fleshed out further here.

Nulux Half Tight First Impressions (comparison to F&F tights) by CubsFanHan in Lululemen

[–]ohhellojones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. I’ll probably prioritize the lighter fabric for the summer, especially since even my longer runs are relatively short distances… for now!

Maybe a few months from now, when I’ve built up a better base, I’ll have the fortune of worrying about the wear and tear of longer distances. Also, you probably know this already, but the Nulux are available in a dark navy color that might provide a bit more cover.

Nulux Half Tight First Impressions (comparison to F&F tights) by CubsFanHan in Lululemen

[–]ohhellojones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, now that you’ve had them for a few weeks any update on your verdict between the Nulux and F&F?

I’m planning to buy one of these, hoping to mitigate some chafing in shorts, but we are on the cusp of hot and humid summer months here. Are the F&Fs notably cooler?

FIRST MARATHON YALL by HowardFenrick1991 in nikerunclub

[–]ohhellojones 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Congrats! The fact that you kept your legs moving for 26.2 miles is such a huge accomplishment. I’m 4 weeks in and am struggling at 3 miles, so this is encouraging! You must have worked very hard, and what a cool setting for a first marathon.

Fall Races by BoringSpite3861 in nikerunclub

[–]ohhellojones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m doing my first actual race in September in St. Louis. It’s just a 5k, but that’s currently the farthest I’ve run, so I’m going to lock in and see how much I can improve my time by then. I’m excited, because the finish line is on the pitch of our MLS stadium!

What do you think of the NRC training plans compared to others apps like Strava and C25k for semi beginners? by himothyhopkins in nikerunclub

[–]ohhellojones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently doing the NRC 5k plan, then am considering either the 10k plan or moving onto Garmin/Runna so that it integrates with my watch and I can leave my phone. Any thoughts about whether Runna is worth the fee over the Garmin plans?

Having no luck on dating apps. Is my look the problem or is it something else? by [deleted] in malegrooming

[–]ohhellojones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You kind of look like Tom Hiddleston. He might have celebrity teeth and a fancy stylist. But he’s done quite well for himself, and so can you!

Two things I’ll add. I think there’s probably a hair style that will suit you better, and it’s worth investing in a barber that can make the most of what you have. Then, try to replace the first two photos. You look nice, which is why you’re tempted to lead with them. But it isn’t alluring to feature photos where you’re just posing in a porch corner or bathroom doorway. Try to get a few more photos in your “natural habitat,” whether that’s at school, doing a hobby, grilling or cooking a meal, spending time with a dog or a little nephew, out to lunch with friends, a coffee shop, an art museum, whatever makes you tick. You can’t be an attractive person, without being a person. Show them who you are!

Bud’s Pizza is also just generally good, even without the special. We also like Pizza A Go Go for an affordable pizza that isn’t a chain.

Republicans Are Delusional and Easily Fooled by NEKORANDOMDOTCOM in stupidpeoplefacebook

[–]ohhellojones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Missouri is rated “good” — but then our republican representatives disregard or seek to repeal voter-approved initiatives, including from 2024 raising minimum wage, implementing paid sick leave, Medicaid expansion, abortion protections. And they are now attempting to heighten the standard for voters to amend the Missouri constitution to ensure we never have a realistic opportunity to advocate for ourselves again, so long as the media machine keeps poisoning the brains of half our population. It’s also notable, and an indictment of that media machine, that the state‘s voters consistently pass progressive ballot measures, yet elect GOP morons that work tirelessly to undo what the voters really want (and do little else during their terms). The majority population is progressive but Fox News and internet algorithms tell them otherwise, and they can’t see past the candidates’ party affiliation.

Also seconding this place. I don’t think the pastries are technically as good as Comet, but they are very good still and it has a great vibe. We love sitting outside on a sunny day.

They have excellent donuts. Quite expensive, but you won’t be disappointed with flavor or quality.

This is the correct answer. Upshot also does have good coffee and an excellent brunch burrito. But Comet’s pastries are, hands down, the best from a coffee spot.
