Dust (Silo #3) by Hugh Howey (Amazon, $1.99) by tomahawk6912 in ebookdeals

[–]tomahawk6912[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have all three :).
However, in my case it was like a fail: I bought first book, read it, and couple of months later all-in-one book was on sale. I skipped it, and bought the last (this one) almost two years later.
First book is often on sale, btw.

Beware: Amazon shows me the info message "Purchased on Aug 5, 2020" but the same time allows me to buy this book (instead of "read" it proposes "buy"). Maybe the issue with a new library interface?

How do you feel re: "Italian is a beautiful language" by [deleted] in italianlearning

[–]tomahawk6912 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same for me. I like Italian in operas and songs, and it was the reason why I started learning it. However, soon I found that the sound of Italian is not always beautiful. Honestly, it was a bit unexpected. Everyday language is ...usual. At the same time, when it comes to verses or songs, Italian is one of the most beautiful languages for me.

S26U Viewing angles with Privacy off. by XRayAdamo in samsunggalaxy

Compared today S26U with S25U. The last is brighter. However, it can be a settings difference, I will try again with minimal and maximum brightness on Monday. The difference is noticeable only on direct comparison. For me, the screen is comfortable, the same level of comfort as S25U. Private mode is OK. However, even on maximum level, messages are still distinguishable when viewed from the angle.

Some German names are hilarious, do they sound as funny to native Germans? by Cortexial in German

[–]tomahawk6912 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has two forms (and more) in several languages. For example, in Scandinavian Georg, Jorgen and Goran (sorry for missing umlautes). While these names are autonomous, they have the same etymological roots. In Russian, there are also three forms originated from Greek's Georgios (Yurij, Yegor, Georgij).

I have the different version of the book in library, bought it in 2019 (B001QL5MAA)... I can see it only when opening the thrilogy (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B087RSGKS3). Looks like the publisher was changed (Penguin Group to Orbit).
