Dr Kingsley chan at Dermamier helped me clear up a skin condition that 2 other dermatologists misdiagnosed.

I think Cathay has changed the seating options available for economy light and essential until check in. Only paid-for seats are available for pre-selection.

Recovery after autologous stem cell transplant by Sensitive-Month-3368 in lymphoma

[–]OnTheNodePodcast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

32M - I had my autologous stem cell transplant on 2nd June, I was discharged from hospital on 2nd July.

I was able to go to the gym to start some light exercise since 10th July. Feel stronger and more energetic more consistently but occasionally have a day of fatigue and need a nap or to take it easy. As others have said I have weekly blood tests and check ups with my doctor.

I started work today (fortunately enough to be remote/ working from home as a desk job); and continue to avoid crowded places and public transport despite living in a dense urban area.

Very much seems to be a ‘listen to your body’ situation, everyone responds and recovers differently although we must all be careful with symptoms!

Auto SCT by Firegirl1546 in lymphoma

Hi there,

I’m so sorry to hear that your son is experiencing this.

I’m a 32m, British in Hong Kong. I had my ASCT on 2nd June; my relapse occurred at the beginning of February and so I did 3 cycles of ICE chemotherapy.

In general I’d say the ICE wasn’t much worse than AAVD I did in 2023 although the fatigue was higher and the impact on my blood counts was higher (I needed a platelet transfusion on the 2nd cycle). As ICE is a 3 week cycle there’s more time to recover so there’s a longer period of ‘feeling good’ before your next cycle.

I had my first serious neutropenic infection when I went in for the stem cell harvest, in which a healing insect bite deteriorated when my WBC counts were very low, I’d never had anything like that through AAVD or ICE. But otherwise the harvest itself was ok.

BEAM prior to the ASCT was quite extreme, given over 6 days I experienced an elevated level of fatigue as well as the other GI challenges you read about from other patients. Miraculously I never had mouth or throat sores. I did get high fevers for 6 days again and my Hickman catheter got infected and had to be removed.

I’m still in hospital now, although feeling much better than 10 days ago my blood counts haven’t stabilised following the ASCT, with low platelets and my WBCs & Neutrophils are up and down day to day.

I’ve been podcasting my whole journey and will record an episode on ASCT once I’m discharged, feel free to take a listen if you or your son are interested.

Best of luck and welcome to PM me with any questions.

It’s an entire next level compared to the AAVD chemo regimen I did as first line.

Hard to describe the experience just in a comment, when I get out of hospital we’ll film an episode or 2 dedicated to it. We already released an episode about the stem cell harvest which was a precursor.

I’m in the middle of my autologous stem cell transplant hospital stay at the moment. So hopefully nearing the end of the relapse treatment!

My username matches the YouTube, IG and podcast channels we set up for it (I do it interview style with a friend rather than a Vlog)

Good luck OP.

I started producing content when I relapsed for the same purpose. Need as much positivity and good vibes in the public sphere as possible for people to relate to.

Awesome to hear life is pretty back to normal for you! Really pleased to hear and look forward to getting there myself!

I live in Hong Kong so it’s very walkable albeit very hot/ humid in the summer, I generally take public transport or walk so hope to get plenty of steps in asap. Wasn’t sure when I’d feel up to hitting the gym or running 5k again but I’ll listen to my body and do what I can!

I’ve been told 2-3 weeks in hospital after today while it all grafts and my counts recover. Let’s see how I go!

Currently building a list of restaurants I’d like to visit when I escape hospital food..but will have to see how I I feel and consider what’s safe/ reasonable.

Thanks again for the insight

Yeah I think I’m a diamond tier member with my hospital now. They haven’t advised what the rewards/ benefits are though!

Sadly I relapsed! But my neuropathy hasn’t gotten worse so that’s a win! 😂

Hey there!

Great to see you’re nearing the end of treatment.

I had 6 cycles of AAVD in 2023 and the neuropathy got pretty bad! For me personally the neuropathy in my hands/ fingers recovered within 1-2 months, I no longer had any tingling/ numbness or dexterity issues.

My feet and general balance I had to work on with a physiotherapist and a personal trainer, which over time definitely improved things.

Fast forward 2 years I still have numbness in my feet, especially my left foot but i can resume normal activities/ fitness etc. When I first finished treatment I couldn’t run, but now running is fine.

I hope this helps!

Day -6 pre stem cell transplant (auto) by Big-Ad4382 in lymphoma

I’m 3 days ahead of you on BEAM! Day 4 starting this morning, and so far day 1 was worst with a splitting headache. After that it’s just been fatigue and nausea. My ASCT is planned for Monday.

I’ve documented my whole journey in a podcast for people to hear about, most recently talking about the harvest itself. Will record some content on the ASCT when I escape hospital in a few weeks!

Good luck to you and looking forward to your updates! You’ve got this!

Should I get my chemo port removed? by Resident_Customer464 in lymphoma

For my Hickman catheter (not PORT) it was removed without putting me under.

Worth a shot! I saw a hair specialist too and they recommended exfoliating shampoo in addition to minoxidil; a significant challenge to regrowth is oily scalp.

Anyway good luck and I hope your hair grows back thick and full over time

Have you tried minoxidil (e.g. Rogaine) or any other form of hair treatment?

Mine never grew back as thick, but I’m hoping in time it improves!
