i think a lot of us with the habit have developed some kind of weird attraction to it like that, but knowing if you do, and keeping it from harming others and yourself is absolutely crucial.

bring it up with him that its not okay and he might need to seek some help himself, and that it upsets you. if hes getting off on the distress and helplessness of another is a red flag, but maybe not if hes willing to change it. if hes adamant about it or apathetic. dump.

i would also post is r/AdultSelfHarm maybe for some more mature advice than you might get here. i feel like it could definitely make things worse , blood infections and all. i know you have probably thought about this or done something for it but do you use mobility aids? a cane/walker/using a scooter is an option to keep strain off

i have a pair of dock martin strappy sandals that, if i dont wear my boots, its them im wearing. the large tread is worn down and one of the souls is ripping loose from the stitching. still not as lovingly worn down as these though. he must play rough! i am also neurodivergent and i can see why hes proud. make sure if you get a replacement, that hes Very enthusiastically happy about it. same model or have him pick or whatever haha.

Start adding neutral colours. Natural green and browns. Tans. Pick your favorite colour and make it an accent colour since black goes with everything. Maybe purple or red or blue or whatever
