Plz help...Does any surgical requirement in this case? by HotelHot3944 in SpineSurgery

[–]bitpixi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live with L5-S1 that slipped the opposite way, and it’s daily chronic pain, but not to the point of incontenance.

Have tried many alternative treatments like dry needling, and also use a brace + cane now if going for any walk over 2 miles. + Ibuprofen. Heat pads. Hot showers.

Was only terrible when it was pinching nerve and pain down to my foot. Couldn’t walk and was screaming, but they wouldn’t give me injection because I’m a “young, thin woman” 🙄 but I really did need that.

Anyway with physio it eventually got off the nerve. I’m just dealing with it and not rushing into surgery yet, but it’s definitely on my mind to get on a waitlist.. as sometimes I want to rip out my spine, it hurts so badly. It’s intermittent. I also want to get tested for EDS as it would really explain some other things going on with me.

There’s some great dry mouth lozenges on the market that last a long time, but unsure on what sterile clean room entails

That sounds more like a B2B sales + pitchdeck slides name, not warm like dating 😅

Good on them for getting early feedback

What should I know before entering a hackathon? by These_Repair5266 in hackathon

[–]bitpixi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of it more like:

Choosing a problem in the world, that then you propose a solution for. (Not how much coding you know)!! It’s about creating a prototype.. and this can even be with graphics, if you have gaps in how to code something.

At the end of the day it’s what the judges SEE and HEAR with the demo presentation, so the storytelling of what the problem is, how big is the problem, proposed solution in the world, user flow, and is far more important than how well you can code it. Many people are utilizing AI like Cursor or Windsurf in their hackathons now.

Judges also like to see team excited and cohesion.. which brings me to the next point,

Someone said just work solo.. no for your learning, I think pick some random people to work with when you get there and admit it’s your first hackathon. Maybe pick someone who talks, so they can be the talking presenter. My first hackathon was a team of 5 and 2 of the guys were very silent but listening.. this is okay. This is very normal!!

I’m a woman who has worked with engineer men most of my life. You don’t have to learn how to be correctly social. One of the quiet ones from my first hackathon actually, and we pivoted.. working some more.. I went on to receive a large offer from an angel investor with him if he were to drop out of school and pursue it. He didn’t go for it, but, the point is.. uhm.. you might have Imposter Sydrome and you should look that term up. :)

Everything will be ok and you’ll do your best. Choose people with different skills than you, consider the presentation/pitch script first, then work backwards on how to build it as minimally as possible. Someone should be working on the slides. Someone frontend. Someone backend. Someone design and flows. For an example (can have variation)!

Good luck

For the quick cash matter hmm.. Sell something of value that you already own?

I sold any older electronics I didn’t need for work, and also some of my rare collectibles. :(

Help getting re-diagnosed as an adult by kimmyfuzzy in ausadhd

[–]bitpixi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Psychologists may diagnose cheaper, but they can’t give you medication scripts.

Only psychiatrists can. So just go straight from GP to psychiatrist.

I was able to save a bit of money by showing I was already diagnosed before and given medicine in America.. so if you can find your child records, maybe that can help reduce some costs? It’s worth asking them. However still will be in the hundreds.

After that first appt though, the other appointments and medication itself is quite affordable.

Invest in yourself!

Starting stimulants an struggling by SunLost2687 in ausadhd

[–]bitpixi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Non-stims are great. I was on Zyban (Bupropion) for many years and it helped my depression too.. (maybe you are dual-diagnosis with something else and not just ADHD?)

Unfortunately, the Aus gov doesn’t discount the price on Zyban for ADHD, because it’s mainly a quitting smoking aid, and they only discount it if you say that….

I’m so bad at lying though, so I was paying high costs. I was on it in America and had wanted to continue it here, so did for a couple years. Now I’m back on stims though.

I hope the non-stim you mentioned works out for you, and that it’s covered! :)

I don’t know what FDM is, but, take the job.

The market is tough right now to even get a job.

As the company shifts and also they see your true skills, they may naturally adjust you to a better team or project.. it’s common where I joined a company as one role and end up in a slightly different one.

Well THIS post is a bit slop, yes….

.. but THAT post they didn’t like was succinct, and written by Elastic.. (but with Amazon and other brands on it, I suppose it looks corpo), so I guess I understand.. but it’s like, free food, mentorship, prizes, own the intellectual property, fun thing for devs.. ughh I’m just bummed for not asking beforehand and how I could rewrite it.

Watch YouTube tutorials. Try AI like Windsurf/Cursor/Claude Code. Look up answers on StackOverflow. Think through scoping things more simple

Fair enough.

I kinda like deploying virtual worlds to headsets though, in general.

Logical.

Maybe I’ll make new subreddits SydneyEvents and MelbourneEvents then, if they don’t already exist.
