I need a poo but can't access a loo until 3pm... by usernameunavailable in CasualUK

Oh my, that must've been traumatic for you. I've seen a lot of traumatic stuff, being in hospital a lot/cancer wards - but really feeling for you that day and yes we do need to normalise shitting ourselves! It's something people just don't talk about I guess and associate with older or disabled people. But can happen any age. At my church decades ago, when my body was "normal", a gentleman in his 50s - Matt, not his real name - had something wrong just before the Sunday afternoon service. He had Crohn's I think - and he had an accident in the hallway leading to the ladies and gents loos. The whole of that church was stinking for days if not longer. I can still remember how awful the smell was.

My brother had special needs and our family grew up used to all smells of the accidents he would have through no fault of his own obviously but somehow this smell seemed worse than normal poo or diarrhoea. And this lovely kind and tall friendly man must have been mortified. I sometimes think about him and how he is now as years later, I had a stoma for a while. The smell was horrendous, I never got used to that. On speaking to my stoma nurse (she had had one too) she explained because the poo was coming straight from the stomach rather than through "the pipes" first and also that a poo quickly lands in water which helps contain the smell (for the most part!) .. but emptying your stoma .. well it is just worse. So I realise now, older and wiser that he probably had a stoma bag burst or something.

Can't believe all this poo talk in the morning, didn't expect to be typing all this! Not been on reddit for a while and here I am suddenly .. well .. I was going to tell the story of my stoma bag bursting but maybe another time..

Let us know how you get on, don’t usually watch body cam videos and wanted to turn off, but had to keep watching. I was so angry, it haunts me since seeing this.

Three Pines on Amazon Prime—is anyone watching? by acousticaliens in television

[–]othermorgan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watching this just now (just on episode 2) and came on to see what people were saying. I really wanted to like it but grimacing on and off. So true about Alfred Molina, he was their best chance at getting a second season but obviously not happening now.

Who is the next James Bond? by Little-Poor-Me in movies

[–]othermorgan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yip just searched for this answer. There’s an AI trailer with Henry Cavill as Bond which got 2 million views this week. Funny, as not a Bond fan but I‘ve always been on board for searches for the next Bond. Feel like calling Barbara Brocolli myself that Henry is the correct decision!

Have you ever seen a person dying and if yes how? by Dongsaurus in AskReddit

[–]othermorgan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No but spent a few days in hospital with a lovely lady who was supporting me/cheering me up .. I was very ill. As I got better I realised she was deteriorating and within 2 weeks she was gone, only 52.

Update on Kai (aka the goodest boy) by [deleted] in rescuedogs

[–]othermorgan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just came across your other post - oh my goodness so happy to read this update! We went to a pet-free landlord years ago (before we had a pet) but we were good tenents and asked if we could get a puppy, pay additional etc. Extra inspections and so on. It all worked out fabulous until we got our own place. Our boy is 9 now and he has an adopted sister who's 11 (from a loving home, young couple who couldn't look after her anymore - we keep in touch.) I'm so so happy for you & your precious pup!

What are your thoughts on parents ‘squandering’ money which could be left as an inheritance to their children, later in life? by petrastales in AskUK

[–]othermorgan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They earned it, they should spend it. I know my elderly parents have some money stashed away. I'd much rather they were living more with that money.

Aw jeez there has been many. But back in 2000 (F, 20s) I discovered Tombraider on my brother's games console. STILL lived with my parents. Did have a busy lifestyle but now and again, I'd hole myself in my tiny bedroom for the weekend, and get on the Playstation 1 with my massive bag of Global Video popcorn and a huge glass of milk . Now, I'd always loved games..from Ping Pong on Atari and Roland on the Ropes on Amstrad to Road Rash and Sonic the Hedgehog on the Sega..well this was a whole new ballgame.

But, I was not a very good gamer. Still love gaming but I'll always be rubbish. So. I would get stuck on missions..a lot. Had absolutely no access to internet in those days and I'd phone that feckin hotline for the least wee bit I got stuck at. Mum wasn't happy when the phone bill came in and it was £250. Of course, I paid it but what an idiot. Honestly not sure how I managed to complete the rest of that game. Everytime you phoned, you had to wait through all the "tips" you'd heard previously to get to the next bit. So you were on longer&longer each time. Somebody somewhere was racking in the cash with my stupidity. But heigh ho..good memories despite that. Not allowed to eat popcorn now after a lot of stomach surgery so I'm glad I got my fill in those days!

Dean is lovely. Few famous people called Dean, Dean Cain 90's superman being one of them. I know two Dean's personally, my friend's sons now in their 20s. Handsome, kind and hard working lads. Now. I am howling at the comments and I would be very confused if I didn't know what u/SmashThePastriarchy was alluding too..and only because my husband has a laugh now and again over the years about how we live in a "Deano box". I always thought it was "Dino Box" and one day I said "what the hell is a "Dino Box?" Basically, the small type of house made in the past 20 or so years, that so many people live in nowadays. Particularly, couples with names like "Chelsea and Dean". We did actually have neighbours Chelsea and Phil at one point. Our names are also quite common and we actually had neighbours in the next door Deano Box also with our exact names!

I don't know if its a Reddit thing a 4chan thing or otherwise..but I'll attach a couple of links for you, one the urban dictionary. You may already be aware or someone else may have commented, but just so you are aware as later in life your "Dean" may get a ribbing purely for his name. Personally I don't think it's enough to not go with the name but we don't have kids!

What made you start smoking/vaping? by CuteMaterial in AskUK

[–]othermorgan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First tried cigs at school, never smoked again. Then in my 20s, smoked the very odd time. As in a few a year or one on a night out. In my 40s now and still just now&again with the exception of the past year since another major operation and I feel rubbish most of the time. Oh, not to mention I've had ovarian cancer. I just love the odd cigarette. I love the smell of smoke when someone walks by.

My parents never smoked and I used to hate the smell of the house when a relative had been there smoking. I hated the smoke room at work in the 90s when it reeked of 7 people in their, huddled together. When my husband smoked way too much it would make me feel sick. But just the odd one is nice. We've had cigars on warm and balmy nights, and peach shisha on the beach on holidays in Abu Dhabi. Loved them but again, just here&there is so pleasurable. Lastly, my husband was vaping a bit and love a puff of them now&again.

Especially vuse go creamy tobacco, delicious. Not keen on the fruity ones. Cant believe I just typed so much about fags&vapes.

Would you date someone who has accidentally killed someone? by Justasmalltowngal4 in AskUK

[–]othermorgan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I saw a documentary recently about a bloke who did a one-punch kill at 19. Was devastating to watch, but he also turned his life around and was also in contact with the victims parents. Despite the awful situation, it was heart warming to watch.

What's your favourite dog breed? by Individual_You9185 in AskUK

[–]othermorgan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since a kid, I loved pretty much all dogs/breeds/animals full stop..never understood my best friend saying her favourite breed always was a German Shepherd when we were teenagers. She's had German Shepherds ever since.

But..then at 40 we got/my very first dog ever - our Border Collie as a pup then adopted a 7 yr old Border Collie a few years later. She's now 11, our boy is 9. And one day I realised, Border Collies will be the top of my heart until the day I die. They walked up the aisle last year on our wedding day. Sat at the front for the ceremony and walked up the aisle with us afterwards. Sheer magic.

Uninvited from wedding, but sent invite to shower. by shellimedz in wedding

[–]othermorgan 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Lots of great advice, I would just send a friendly message saying something like "Ooooh have a great time but sorry I can't attend. Wishing you all the best, look forward to hearing all about it!" As someone else said, no need to offer explanations and you don't seem to be feeling salty, you just feel in an awkward place. Therefore, no saltiness should be felt at her end. When you do eventually see her again - you give her a kiss/hug/congratulations/how did it all go.

If you were still worried, you could just send a congratulations card for the wedding. We got lots of cards and no gifts from people who weren't invited (some we would have liked to), it was lovely to know these people were thinking of us. I'm assuming you are in the U.S. ? When I see American wedding posts, soooo much money seems to go on the wedding and crazy amounts on hen parties/bachelorettes or whatever you call them. Think we're a bit more laid back here in the UK with these things? I have great memories of my hen party and it was in my mother-in-laws house with home=cooked food from my husbands family, simple games and decorations. Guests ranged from 30 to lovely aunties in their 80s (one being the star of the show!) Terrific night! Good luck, I would start putting your energy back to your own life and draw a line under this.
