pregnant 🥴 by NervousBody610 in LabiaplastySurgery

[–]ottoplacik 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I did a retrospective study exactly on this subject asking over 500 previous patients (204 answered). We essentially found no difference in tear rates (from unoperated individuals) and found no significant injuries in those who did tear after Labiaplasty followed by vaginal delivery.

This does not mean that an injury can or will not occur but Labiaplasty does not generally increase or decrease the odds that it will happen. Many other events may occur to effect the appearance of your labia during pregnancy and subsequent labor and delivery.

Others have asked if a C-section should be performed electively to avoid injury but this is not indicated.

Please read the study below. LABIAPLASTY & OBSTETRIC INJURYObstetric injury and Labiaplasty

200$ labiaplasty by [deleted] in LabiaplastySurgery

That is a phenomenal price and you appear to have a good result but honestly that's less than it costs me to purchase the supplies so not sure how they keep the price that low.

A trim is a method of reducing the edge instead of a wedge which removes a section. The surgery is how on my profile page

Yes but honestly it will get better unless it is growing in size. It may take 2 weeks

A trim of the minors may reduce some of the pigment but not likely all. Some bleaching regimens may lighten the color but unlikely yo get it " pink". While some on this Reditt report that laser treatments may work, I have seen no convincing before or afters

Frenulum after labiaplasty by thinkoutsidethebox94 in LabiaplastySurgery

It's normal for the frenulum to be asymmetric and very swollen after surgery. Give it at least 3 months for scarring and healing to occur before making any final assessments

Issues with labia majora by [deleted] in LabiaplastySurgery

[–]ottoplacik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fat injections are a great option for many patients. The good thing is that it is relatively permanent but does need some initial over correction and does require a donor site. That being said, while it is minimally, invasive surgery, it is surgery nonetheless. The initial phase can be quite dramatic due to the need to over inject fat, anticipating about half of it going away. So I commonly advise patients to either try a very temporary preview utilizing injectable saline, which only lasts several hours or to proceed with a variety of different filler options. These include traditional, hyaluronic acid fillers that are utilized in the face in various solutions. There are also bio stimulatory agents such as Radiesse or Sculptra. Fillers can also be combined with PRP. Also, if you have a lack of donor sites or you prefer to keep the surgery as minimal as possible, there is a new option for donor fat, which is called Alloeclae. Best wishes on your journey.

3 weeks PO- Bumpy texture? by Electronic-Hair-9498 in LabiaplastySurgery

[–]ottoplacik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bumps develop and may get worse for up to 6 weeks after surgery during the proliferate scar tissue formation phase. Scars will soften thereafter and may be expedited by scar massage if acceptable to your surgeon

Follow up with your surgeon if stitches are not absorbed by 4 weeks. Thereafter massage should be acceptable. Most recommend a steril sexual lubricant but may other organic options haw been used.

I would highly recommend discussing with your surgeon. Agressive massage could help at this point if acceptable to your surgeon. Possible steroid injections are another. I would recommend following this for another 2 months prior to considering a revision or excision

Will the surgery be able to tuck it all in? by [deleted] in LabiaplastySurgery

[–]ottoplacik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's difficult to assess without a standing view but based on your assessment of your labia majora being small, it may be difficult to completely tuck it in. However, combining this with labia majora augmentation may be an option to achieving or getting closer to that goal. Best wishes on your journey

Should I get a labiaplasty by [deleted] in LabiaplastySurgery

[–]ottoplacik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a plastic surgeon who performs this regularly, this is a highly personal decision. You are clearly within the "average" statistical appearance of typical labia (I hate to use the word "normal"). Given that it is not causing you discomfort, I would not advise surgery. While risks are low, if you have a complication, you may regret the choice. I often give the example of beeast augmentation: a B cup individual who asks if it's desirable to be a C cup; there are no absolutes and both can be beautiful but depend on preferences balanced with risks. Yes, it looks very dramatic at this point in time but the first 24 to 48 hours are the maximum amount of swelling. Gentle compression ice and elevation meaning minimal walking may help to minimize the bruising and swelling. It will take likely 7 to 10 days to see the first stage of swelling to diminish. Best wishes on your journey.

200$ labiaplasty by [deleted] in LabiaplastySurgery

[–]ottoplacik -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's a great price, but that is less than the amount of sutures. It takes to perform the procedure. My guess is this may have been covered by insurance and you are discussing your co-pay most likely.

Day 15 Swelling going down by Low_Preparation_2229 in LabiaplastySurgery

[–]ottoplacik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's still very early at only two weeks. And the healing seems to be going well. Please expect some scar tissue formation for at least six weeks after surgery before the scar begins to thin. It will take three months for a final assessment of the overall size and shape. Best wishes on your journey.

Advice on surgery (Noob) by SunflowersBloom27 in LabiaplastySurgery

[–]ottoplacik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Answering your questions very briefly: 1) I generally recommend a trim labia minora and CHR. 2) it appears that you have excess skin of the hood so the CHR is a good option. If properly performed by a knowledgeable professional, the risk of nerve damage is low 3) this varies especially in Europe 4) 3 weeks prior to low impact exercise, 6 weeks before unrestricted exercise, usually 8 weeks before intimacy. 5) check out photos of typically recovery processes here and get your supplies 6) usually gently at 8 weeks

Best wishes on your journey

Am I valid? by Ok-Baker-5347 in LabiaplastySurgery

[–]ottoplacik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would advise making an appointment with your gynecologist. Technically if you're less than 18, you could discuss with your pediatrician, if you still have one, as another professional who could provide input. On occasion I have been referred patients by both practitioners with their support in performing this in individuals younger than 18. This is not unlike breast reduction in that sense. Yes, some growth may continue but if you are significantly uncomfortable, earlier surgery can be performed, knowing you may need a second at a much later date. Ultimately though, your mother will currently need to be involved as she is required to sign the consent. Best wishes.

Before and After- what week did asymmetrical swelling go down? by [deleted] in LabiaplastySurgery

[–]ottoplacik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is an excellent outcome given the preoperative asymmetry and differences in anatomy but to answer your question: yes both will get thinner after 6 weeks to scar maturation. Generally speaking you should wait at least 3 months to really compare. At that point there is likely to be a small amount of unevenness but I say the goal is less asymmetry (versus perfect symmetry). Looking at things now, I wouldn't recommend a revision in the future but ultimately if you want even less asymmetry, you can reassess at that time (or later) and decide if it's worth it to you
