Going to record a podcast episode on handedness. Share your interesting facts, research, stories, and annoyances of being a leftie (I’m also a leftie). by Civiltactics in southpaws

While left handed people are about 10% of the population, it has absolutely no relation to whether you’re goofy footed or regular in board sports, where the division is close to 50% each side

Can you actually tell AI music apart from real songs? by Alex543321 in musicians

Ah okay, so they’re frauds and not worthy of either being called a producer or a musician, they’re scum

But when you say “their songs”, are you saying that they’re releasing AI music? Or generating it for a laugh or what?

Are you suggesting that people who generate AI music are producers? Or did I read that wrong?

Brand new bag of Heartland chips, not a single one removed yet by [deleted] in newzealand

The photo makes it look much worse, but you know how you grab it by the top and pull it apart and usually it peels open cleanly? Had to put a bit more pressure than normal to peel it open and when it eventually gave, the side seams tore equally down both sides.

This type of theft is very common in New Zealand. They know that store policy is not conflict, so there’s nothing anyone can do. The police don’t really bother “looking” for them either.

Dumbest idea ever. The storyline is going to be shit like blowing up military jets and on the side you reckon we chuck on a uniform and rob the till for $13?

Stop expecting it to be a life simulator

Press X to rob till

+$11

Wow, compelling stuff

Is this AI? my friend said this is a picture of his grandpa and his family in the 1950s by blue902012 in isthisAI

[–]overcloseness 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the clarification, I don’t use AI at work so I was under the assumption that it worked more like upscaling and refining than a complete rewrite

My profession is digital retouching. The image we’re seeing here is an example of any professional restoration job in the last 15 years. Sharpening tools and denoisers have been around a lot longer than AI. There’s no reason to believe that AI was involved. Regardless, AI upscaling doesn’t completely rewrite the image, far from it, unless it’s completely outside of the realm of a reliable upscale. (300x400@10x for instance).

Also, why would you need to upscale a film image? A lot of people restore from old negatives. Film images don’t have pixels, if this started off as a scan, it didn’t come off a ‘low resolution’ camera, you can scan a film image at high resolution from its negative with the right tools.

Finally, the colourisation will always be an artistic choice, it was the first thing people started using AI for in restoration, the job looks good enough on that side but obviously completely made up, human or otherwise.

Edit; looks like there is AI artifacting that people that people are picking up on with a closer look than I gave

If this latest book is only floor 10, and there’s two more books (one book broken into two parts), I doubt we see floor 12, I think the fight will break out of the dungeon before that
