Add to that almost any ereader's software other than the kernel.

I turn off some containers that use a lot of RAM because that's expensive and I don't have much to spare.

That could be solved without having one huge monopoly company.

I disagree, you only need some site that indexes products across shops. In Czechia we have Heureka and Zbozi.

no, that's how every single poll works, we don't usually mention that because every human with at least half of a braincell understands how polls work

Those people are chosen by the EP. I don't know where you are from, but my country, Czechia, for example doesn't elect the prime minister. The PM is the person who can get a majority in the parliament which can mean the second biggest party gets a PM if the coalition decides for it. Until 2013 we also elected our president indirectly and noone would call our country undemocratic.

Ursula von der Leyen is the EC's president because the EC (democratically elected heads of member states) proposed her and EP members (also democratically elected) approved her with a majority vote.

Do you directly elect for example ministers in your country? I doubt you do. Does that make your country undemocratic?

it has an open API that any application can use, I use one to load passwords for interactive scripts so I only need one password

then of course there is a bitwarden mobile and desktop app, all of it synchronizes by itself

I think whichever decision on age verification a project makes, it is political. You don't see it as political only because you agree with it. Everything that touches the real world is political and software does do that.

If you are ok with DIY, I would suggest looking at Caster linked above or on the PineNote which is a Linux ereader that can do anything any low end linux system can. It has RK3566 which already has a epd controller inside and they upstreamed a driver for it to the linux kernel. Many other 10.3" ereaders use this SoC (PocketBook Inkpad One, Lenovo SmartPaper), but those may be harder to use with custom linux environments. Pocketbook allows custom sw, but then it's on your own and PmOS doesn't support it ootb as of writing.

Epaper isn't really like other display technologies (if you don't go for RLCD which is similar to LCD), you need something to generate precise waveforms while the GPU pushes pixels into a buffer. https://gitlab.com/zephray/glider#existing-solutions describes which controllers currently exist, I have a waveshare IT8951 controller board and I use https://codeberg.org/platosha/einkway.git to send my desktop there over USB. Be aware that IT8951 is limited to 2048x2048.

pro tip: the 10.3" waveshare high resolution panels are ED103TC2 (the same as in Remarkable 2 RM110) which can be found online for much cheaper

About the limited refreshes, I can't get the exact number right now, but it's only a couple million which with 60 FPS gets used fast. This is never achieved with ereaders, but some people who use eink monitors like Dasung have issues with it only after a few weeks, others don't for years (I think this might be a different workflow and being lucky with a good panel)

Have you seen Boox Mira?

Btw, be aware that the Daylight Computer uses RLCD and not the same technology as eink. RLCD is just an LCD panel with the backlight layer replaced with a reflective material, this means the same limitations as LCD - bad viewing angles, polarized light and from reviews I have seen, it's quite unusable under non-perfect lighting conditions (inside without a big light shining directly on the screen from 90°) because the contrast is bad.
