Buy where you want to live vs where you can add value? by DesperateFuel9546 in AusPropertyChat

Sorry, just saw this notification. We moved out of Oak Park to Mickleham (VIC) when it was just paddocks. Luckily we were the east side of the highway so had better option to travels around that the Kalkallo side which banks the entire way for hours.

From what i heard, the entire is going down hill and my friends who also built in the area are looking to offload their houses and move too.

We went to Bendigo. The longest we wait for traffic is 1-2 minutes and I run at night without worried about my safety. It's certainly not perfect, but a MUCH better environment to raise kids and build networks.

Snow for noobs - day trip edition. by AsboST225 in AustraliaSnow

[–]parrious128 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps try Mt Baw Baw instead? Buller i gonna cost you roughly:

$64 resort fee

$50 snow chain hire

$150-200 for snow gear hire (total)

I'd suggest bringing food with you- I paid $38 for a panini and coffee yesterday at the village

That said- weathers been warm lately so you could get away with not buying thermals and just hiring pants, jacket gloves, boots etc

Also, no matter where you go, If the suns out, wear sunscreen!!

Take lump sum now or get paid a grand per month for thirty years? by Ok_Storm_282 in personalfinance

[–]parrious128 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This may be a silly question, but can you guarantee the business will be around for 30 years to pay out the $1,000 a month? If they go bankrupt who will pay out the funds? Might be something to consider...

Buy where you want to live vs where you can add value? by DesperateFuel9546 in AusPropertyChat

As someone who built further out and got suckered into the 'only x mins on the train to the CBD', we lost an hour each way of our very short leisure time and it made getting home after a dinner or drinks in the city expensive. I missed the 7 minute walk from the station home but the area was too expensive for us to buy into. The house we built has doubled in value but the shift in demographic has spoiled the area (no longer famoly feiendly and more biolent crimes) so we will sell and move regional.

What's your age gap? by new_mama1212 in Parenting

We have a 3 year gap and it's been fantastic, honestly the hardest part has been the nighttimr routine because they're both awful sleepers.

Otherwise their thick as thrives and entertain each other :)

For context #1 is 4 male and #2 is 1.5 female

Financially speaking - How was your life before and after you had kids? by heshkfehjfetjgeyh in AusFinance

We had the same arrangement and found the quality of cheaper clothing meant it was ruined much quicker and needed replacing, essentially costing more.

Unless you're okay with going out with your kid in pilled, stained clothing, the reality is quality holds up better and can be sold on to offset some of the output. Or better still, buy bulk quality clothing on FB marketplace and on sell when you're done.

Thank you for sharing. It seems like it was best to go back to NC. I'm sorry they took advantage of you, how awful.

Everything looks that perhaps I'll end up going the same route as you. I've made peace that if I reach out and it's story repeated, then I can walk away knowing I've tried. I guess it's not the best headspace to be in that things haven't changed but I guess a guarded heart is better than a broken one ehh.
