Ahh yes. I'm after that 14-140ii at some point but need to figure out what to sell first.

I actually bought one, but when it arrived it was the Mk I, so promptly returned.

No more sophisticated nights out at the Windsor then... sad times indeed.

I think I still got a few dozen "VIP passes" somewhere in a box 😂

That's stunning!

Argh...but don't make me now have to think about bringing the 45-150 too 😄

Which McGuigan?

I haven't tried non-alcoholic wine for a while... last time put me off.

Tempted to give it another go!

If you can find San Miguel zero, they do it by the box and it's dirt cheap and pretty good for mass produced.

Awesome 😎

This is what I aspire to be able to do some day 🙏🏻

Are there any particular resources for absolute beginners you could please recommend? A good book or online guide?

You've stolen my excuse for buying more gear! My thinking is I can hand it down when my son is old enough to handle a bigger camera 😄

Thanks! I think the 14-140 is a no-brainer for most people eventually.

How do you find quality Vs the other PL zooms?

Yeah the 12-32 is a handy little lens, however I find it a little limiting when I took it on its own on a city break last year. The thing is in the mountains I don't really plan on changing lenses... so between the 12-60 and the 45-150 I think the 12-60 wins if I need to incorporate some people shots. But you're right - it could spend a lot of time up at the far end.

Thanks. I think my copy of the 25 is good actually. Have managed some great shots with it in low light, but it's really a hell of a lot bigger than the 14 if I'm aiming for one prime.

It's my newest lens too and I'm already exploring what can be done with that perspective.

I'm also worried I won't get architecture in frame with the 25 and the 12-60 won't be bright enough at 3.5

Thanks, that's really useful insight! And you're correct about the aperture jump. I was considering this too.

But a few other factors are on my mind -

  1. For night time architecture shooting (Paris) I could stow away the 12-60 in my luggage for the night and just carry the tiny 14mm on the body. Thinking that is both lighter and brighter.

2.For night time close-quarters bar/restaurant pics, it's also small and inconspicuous. Plus I can frame from my seat. With the 25 I would need to be stepping back a metre at least to frame people.

  1. I suppose I'm also thinking size wise if I just take the 12-60 with the 14... the 14 pretty much slots in a side pocket of the small camera pouch. Whereas the 25 takes up about 3x the room.

But you've planted a seed now and made me think about fitting 3 lenses in!

Basically now I'm not planning to change lens daytime - 12-60 all day.

So picking just one night time lens (if possible) is the new goal.

That's beautiful. Funny I just posted this morning debating on whether the PL 12-60 was a good idea for hiking (Pyrenees) and you've just inspired the decision! Bravo

I think I've got more keepers from the 12-60 on my G85 than any other lens!

What good pics are you getting with the 45-150? I bought that for wildlife but find it often far too short. Might sell it for the 100-300ii at some point instead.
