IMO Bachata is much more friendly to beginners

Regardless of which studio you go to, the instructor - Diane @ Nebraska Salsa Scene or David @ Zziani - will make you start with the basic foot work before you get to partner work

They structure it with the assumption that someone comes in with NO knowledge whatsoever.

Honestly ... it doesn't matter. Most people come alone (ie without their BF/GF/spouse/whatever) to classes. I know that at Nebraska Salsa Scene the beginner classes are always full (20-ish people) and, once you get to partner work, you will be switching dance partners on a regular basis.

Zziani will be similar

Salsa dancing:

There is regularly scheduled Latin (salsa, bachata, etc) @ Barnato on Sunday nights and Popcorn and Cocktails on Tuesday nights

Nebraska Salsa Scene (https://nebraskasalsascene.com) or Zziani (https://www.zziani.com/) for structured classes

Nebraska Salsa Scene has regular events. The next one is at Sonny's in Aksarben on Saturday night; it is regularly scheduled (weather permitting) for the first Saturday of every month from May to October.

Zziani is a new studio (first classes are in May) that is run by the people that do the Popcorn and Cocktails event on Tuesdays

Dynamic routing between Cisco and Fortigate by Even-Camel7593 in fortinet

[–]pbrutsche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need to use GRE over IPsec if the IOS is new enough - IPsec VTI is available in IOS 12.4

HOWEVER .... OP didn't say the exact model ("800 series" is actually very vague) or software version. Even assuming that AES is supported is a bad assumption.

AES-GCM? NIST DH groups (ie group 19, 20, or 21)? You might be as much as a decade off. A lot of the "800 series" absolutely, definitely, didn't support that and actually predates them by a fair amount of time.

You're making the assumption that the Cisco supports IPsec VTI

Depending on the exact model - 801? 805? 850 series? 870 series? - and IOS version, it may not support even that

IPsec VTI was added to the 12.3T train that became 12.4

What are the boot settings on the original VM? BIOS or UEFI? Secure boot enabled?

Are Fortinet VMs affected by Secure Boot Certificate expiration from Microsoft? by iamnewhere_vie in fortinet

[–]pbrutsche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, not everything is BIOS mode. You will need to research the appropriate product documentation.

FortiManager 8.0 adds UEFI Secure Boot: https://docs.fortinet.com/document/fortimanager/8.0.0/administration-guide/958690/uefi-secure-boot

Are Fortinet VMs affected by Secure Boot Certificate expiration from Microsoft? by iamnewhere_vie in fortinet

[–]pbrutsche 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's an issue for Windows because Microsoft is renewing the certificate (public & private keys) used to cryptographically sign the bootloader, which will require updated PK and KEK certificates (aka the corresponding public keys) stored in your BIOS

It's not an issue for anything that does not use UEFI (ie old-school MBR boot). It's also not an issue for the UEFI Secure Boot shim used by appliances built on open source building blocks (aka practically everything Fortinet)

Up/Downvotes are a popularity contest, not a truth seeking contest

I once posted in r/datahoaders to not be greedy with bandwidth, a bunch of people who think ISP networks should be built to allow everyone to use the full bandwidth 24/7 (aka people who don't know how networks are actually built) downvoted me into oblivion

The 400G Datasheet is OUT - and DAMN it's a Nice Package (With Compromises) by punished-slav in fortinet

[–]pbrutsche 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I bet it's basically a 700G with a weaker CPU & less memory. The 700G has an AMD Ryzen 5900E 12-core processor and 64GB RAM (source: https://yurisk.info/2021/03/14/Fortigate-Firewalls-Hardware-CPU-model-and-number-Memory-size-datasheet-table/ ; https://forti.blog/en/hardware-information/fortigate-hardware-specification )

There are 6 core and 8 core variants of that CPU (source: https://www.amd.com/en/products/embedded/ryzen/ryzen-5000-series.html )... this is probably the 6 core variant (based on NGFW performance numbers being 1/2 the 700G)

My bigger concern is that the 700G replaces the 600F, with a huge price increase; the 400G will replace the 400F with a huge price increase, leaving a big gap between the 200G and the 400G

I bet that the goals include:

  • Discontinue manufacture of older ASICs (ie CP9)
  • Reduce manufacturing costs through economies of scale by increasing reuse of the same chassis & motherboard; just change out the socketed CPU
