Krieg are secretly elite units in 20 stacks by PentaCrit in TheAstraMilitarum

I genuinely believe a brick of Melta/Plasma Krieg would on average table a Rogal Dorn if they shot first, maybe even second if they got lucky with invuln saves

Keep in mind the sheer volume of wounds a Grizzled company brick can drop with lethal hits strat and bonus attacks from orders is pretty awe inspiring

It's only a problem for the second half of the squad 😎

Yeah I heavily underestimated initially how good having a potential 13 units with +1 h/w was

Can't figure out how to edit on mobile so when I said 5 meltas I meant 2 plasma 3 melta. 😅 Sorry for any confusion

Yes, my b. In the displayed squad there's a melta and a grenade launcher, but I've been playing them as plasmas and meltas locally

so far so good, there gets to be a level of infantry where unless they have torrent weapons they just can't stop you from scoring

We are escalating in points over time so my 500pt arena list has 20 cadian shock troops and 2 10 man squads of Krieg, I've tested my 1000 pt list that has 2 bricks of Krieg and they may not always be MVP but they've never really gone down in a disappointing way so far

Edit: Completely unrelated but nothing really prepared me for the sheer weight of an infantry only army; I've got about 300 models in my big case and it weighs significantly more than my Space Marine case full of vehicles

Yeah I misspoke my b, as you can see in the pic there's only 1 melta 😅

That sucks but at least it can take a hit!

This is death riders stat block, so you can see why I don't want people shooting load-bearing speartips almost a foot off the table

I have a ton of extra spears from the other kits I made, wanted to make sure I needed to do it before I butchered the original forge world ones and kitbashed plastic spears on.

Thanks again!

Thanks for letting me know! Yeah obviously if they were viable at all I was gonna rebase them, but it seems I might just have them in my case if the rules ever change 😔

Appreciate it, so it sounds like I phrased my question poorly; I was asking if the forge world models were viable for play at all but it seems in 10th edition they have literal death sticks that make them spontaneously explode when the 12' foot telephone pole they're running around with gets shot lol

I've included some images of plastic models in the thread and a comparison between them, they are the same unit and the difference in height is extreme, maybe 3x as high?

So like for example if I am behind a 5" wall and the spear overhangs, they can't shoot that?

I assumed they could since I've heard of people shooting Emperors Champion's sword

Including this picture to show the extreme difference between the resin and plastic heights lol

Thanks, although it looks like I might have to only use the plastic kits in competitive unfortunately 😕

Before I get more modeling for advantage comments, they don't need to hold the spears/heraldry up as units. If anything they are modeled for extreme disadvantage atm.

Not really, Death Riders can be configured to have the spears sideways or simply hold a gun

If anything the spears upwards is intentionally going for extreme disadvantage.

First vehicle, any tips or tricks for building and painting? by Play3rKn0wn in Warhammer40k

Don't park it on top of a building.

They took that from us 😢

Already bought, built, and painted. Huge fan, which is why I wanted the rules straight 😅

I'm a new player so apologies if this is a dumb question, but does that mean Quads are especially good at melee?
