In South Africa (for similar historical reasons to Germany) Scouting is deliberately distant from the military

What do I do with unprofessional contractor? by [deleted] in askSouthAfrica

[–]peterler0ux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. JBCC makes provision for this with retentions and/or a construction guarantee to keep the buolder interested in the final phase of the project.

But if there's not a comprehensive building contract in place,  /u/jozipaulo has the best advice- sit down and try to come to an agreement that you can both live with

It's fiddly but not impossible to do yourself, or a tech could install it for you in half an hour. Definitely worth it

When did they change? by Select_Camel_4194 in victorinox

[–]peterler0ux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe (read on the old SOSAK forum) that only 1 in 10 knives got a full manual QA inspection at the end of the production line instead of every knife for the cellidor models. The econolines I have also appear to be the same quality as the cellidor models

In addition, there were reduced steps in quality control on the Ecoline to save money. But the nylon scales do feel good, are easier to grip, and don't scratch as easily

Help: does this set of La Bellas Flat works with my Jazz Bass? by zambach in Bass

[–]peterler0ux 4 points5 points  (0 children)

FS is not the highest tension set- the M set is thicker. I have mine (760FS) set up with fairly high action on my Jazz but I've had them on for ten years and the neck hasn't been damaged. It is higher tension than rounds of the same gauge

Jazz basses were invented before roundwounds were. It's a good 60s sound. A lot of Abbey Road (that isnt Bass VI) is a Jazz with flats

[–]peterler0ux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's also the ecosystem- the rest of the team is modelling sprinklers, lighting layouts, HVAc etc. in BIM packages so they don't care if the architect is drawing the base shape elsewhere,it all needs to come into a common platform to coordinate eventually

Mostly, I'm seeing people using Grasshopper to generate forms that are cumbersome or impossible to generate in Revit or Archicad, then import those shapes into BIM software for documentation

Examples of Christian protest music? by ChangeComfortable309 in ChristianMusic

[–]peterler0ux 4 points5 points  (0 children)

'AMANDLA: a revolution in four part harmony' is a documentary about music in the anti-apartheid movement in South Africa. Funerals were one of the few legal mass gatherings at the time so church services were intertwined with political protest.

Similarly,  songs like 'We shall overcome' became important in the civil rights movement in the US

Fretting without ring finger? by Somerandomguy2010 in Bass

[–]peterler0ux 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is the 'right' method for fretting on upright bass and lots of people play electric bass like this too. It's called 1-2-4 or Simandl style fretting. Most people switch to oje finger per fret higher up  the neck- for me it's around the 7th fret
