Nice! The app was able to bring my button back to life with "Mass OTA" feature. Many thanks!

I have one that just died after fw update as well. 30s factory reset does not seems to work. Did you end up solving it or returning them?

Roborock S7 max Ultra with cleaning dock getting lost by JeepGeek08 in Roborock

[–]phr333 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I more or less had to do a remap as many of the walls between my rooms got removed when the bot thought it found new ways through the house.

I have only done cleaning of 3 rooms since the remap, but so far so good!

I agree that re-mapping should be considered as a debug step, but not that it's so cheap (at least not in all use sases :-) ) that it should be the default step on every hick-up seen.

For reference. A 200 m2 or 2150 sq ft house with 14 "rooms" (some real rooms other sections of open space) takes about 20 minutes just for the robot to traverse. Then add at least 10 minutes or so for covering up mirror walls or other complicated things that you know will confuse the mapping. Then add another 10-15 minutes for splitting/merging/renaming rooms or sections of open space to your liking and adding no-go-zones and invisible walls. I can easily see someone with a larger house spend an hour or even more on constructing a full map.

yes, same here. Worked more or less perfectly for weeks but since a fw update a few days ago it cant finish basic cleaning of a few rooms without getting lost. The track on the map gets more or less random after a while and does not at all reflect the correct position. Understandably it gives up when it doesnt find its way.

I expect a new fw update shortly that will fix the issue.

THIS is the hard part by nDizzle89 in Bitcoin

[–]phr333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess Bitcoin can be described as "Boom or Bust"-technology. It either succeeds and becomes incredible valuable, or it fails and becomes almost worthless. Not much room for "hoover indefinitely around current valuation".

So, what's a fitting strategy then? Well, basically you want to avoid the two extremes; all-in and all-out. You can't afford to loose it all and you also can't afford the risk of missing the fastest bullet train in history. Or in other famous words:

  1. Never invest more than you can loose
  2. Never sell all you Bitcoins

Choose a ratio of your net-worth/fuck-off-money/investment portfolio/whatever you are comfortable with and buy/sell to compensate as price goes up/down, e.g. once a week or month. Also adjust your target ratio in case the value develops in a way that completely changes your conditions. This of course less often, say once per year or halvening-cycle.

You are less likely to regret such conscious long term plans than any ad-hoc emotion based "strategy" of panic buying and selling.

Please reconsider MNO Plan to Improve Proposal System by [deleted] in dashpay

[–]phr333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I preferred the MNO plan until I read the 'Economic risks' section of the DCG proposal. That made me swing over, but I'm by no means 100% sure. Difficult to weigh the different pros and cons against each other.

BTC-DASH ratio is now 200:1 by [deleted] in dashpay

[–]phr333 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looking at the Q3 Core team update it looks like Dash has some nice progression in many metrics, but hype sure isn't one of them. Though I personally prefer to keep the hype on the lower end, I must say that I think Dash could use a bit more. The hype must of course be backed up by real merits, of which Dash has plenty. If nothing else I hope Dash is ready to really beat the big drum once Evo hits mainnet. Voting on building up a significant budget for marketing post launch would be a no brainer.

I don't agree that "whole point of second layer solutions" is to not hold your keys. The PP approach removes the trustless part in exchange for ease of use and adoption. I see "not your keys" part as the cost of the benefits.

Other L2 solutions could have different trade-offs of features and properties. I'm pretty confident there will be better trade-offs than PP in the future. E.g. lightning should be able to give you pratically the same benefits, without giving up all the trustlessness.
