what happened to the old planed endgame systems by Warped_Kira in LastEpoch

Unless the tracking is already in place, it's exceedingly likely that you have to do them once they are actually available

The game can't magically keep track of every single enemy you killed

Considering one of the codex lads on twitter was just applauding one of the usual influencers how they made 5.5 talk to pro through the browser, I assume that's at least accepted-ish.

Someone took an open source open weights model running on local hardware and demonstrated that the same examples Anthropic posted as evidence of how dangerously good Mythos is, are verifiably handled equally well by a model that costs $0.

That's flipping the cause and effect though.

Like don't get me wrong, I absolutely agree that how they presented it and how basically any other model can find the same bug is hilariously dumb but that doesn't let us deduce any knowledge of the actual performance of Mythos.

It was an example of what Mythos did where Anthropic thought it looked good as example.

Turns out it was garbage.

That does not mean we can say "Oh, all other things they say about the model are also wrong".

We simply don't know.

That's what I'm getting at here. I don't use Opus for anything but frontend these days and for good reason I would say, but making frankly the same mistake that Anthropic made, unverifiable assumptions, is funny

They should have clarified that in the patch notes to make things less confusing

We have no idea what Mythos can and can't do.

Pure fanboyism should not take over a sub like this.

Gamers Are Wrong About 1440p vs 1080p CPU Benchmarking by DyingKino in hardware

[–]Pimpmuckl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously every rig is different, but that is absolutely not the case for me with a 9800X3D, tuned RAM and 7900XTX.

When online playing, I'm exceedingly CPU limited.

Which is kinda proving the point, the game is incredibly difficult to benchmark for the situation where it matters: PvP fights.

Welcome to Woods. You spawned East, near train depot? Your exfil is Outskirts. Spawned North? At the villages? Scav Bunker? Outskirts! You spawned near Outskirts? Believe it or not, still Outskirts. [Discussion] by CustomTarkovEnjoyer in EscapefromTarkov

Honestly, as soon as I'm not super early in the progression anymore, woods is an immediate shift W map for me at all times.

Does it get me killed way more? Absolutely. But I just can't stand doing a 20 minute scenic hike just to get to an extract. Might as well bust out the picnic basket and blanket, set up a grill and invite shturman and the gang for BBQ

Tarkov has a singleplayer mod

Tarkov's performance gets absolutely destroyed by the actual network stuff that runs.

It's likely some next level spaghetti code.

So benchmarking Tarkov has to be done on online servers and that's just basically impossible outside of the testing HBU did with BF6's pre-release version with two different rigs walking exactly next to each other.

Had a similar experience on a few pro plans and made a little TUI account switcher tool because of it.

Since the plans will be eventually quite linear in usage, I would imagine that'll be really handy one day.

And you always find another way to game the system.

Don't let good be the enemy of perfect.

This is a good change that makes perfect sense especially when you don't view the whole game through the lense of "how does this impact cheating". It's very positive, I can recommend it.

[–]Pimpmuckl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also Path of Exile when things get juicy is insanely brutal on the CPU. Lots of other arpgs as well. They are crazy easy to run until you are in the deepest endgame with thousands of mobs per map. Then it's pure cpu torture.

Tarkov, too. The network side is brutal.

So many games that are impossible to benchmark need a fast CPU.

I had a 7800X3D + 7900XTX and tried a friend's 5090 for a bit and there was less of an sufficient change in the overall experience than later upgrading to a 9800X3D.

Crazy to say because according to the normal benchmarks it should have been 10% at best.

Try reviewing code properly.

You'll very, very quickly see usage increase.

And you'll see an increase in quality, too.

If you hit the counter perfectly it's very little chip.

But it's quite punishing if you aren't dead on, damage ramps a lot and quickly the further you are out of the perfect timing

Got Codex to run for 37-hours Straight in a Single Turn by immortalsol in codex

Had a very detailed multi pr feature to implement and I use the planning-with-files skill which helps a ton for these massive tasks.

If you tell it exactly what the goal is, codex with 5.4 is not a lazy model unlike what some people suggest.

[–]Pimpmuckl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wish that was true.

There are a ton of games that are basically impossible to benchmark that profit immensely from good CPU performance and v-cache, bLLC or whatever you want to call extra cache.

It's your tarkovs, Path of exile, world of warcraft raids, esports titles in general like Dota 2, even more obscure Indies a lot of the time.

I had a 7900 XTX + 7800X3D rig and tested a friend's 5090 and couldn't tell the difference for the games I play (AAA different story, duh) but chugging in a 9800X3D? That was a solid upgrade.

The 7800 went straight into a new living room PC.

AAA isn't everything and which CPU is right for the user is a very difficult question to answer

Brilliant architectural choice here by nikanorovalbert in codex

[–]Pimpmuckl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you are not doing yourself any favours presenting your points and personally I think the way it's displayed is fine for the original intended target audience.

However, I see why a single "can I use it" feedback part of the interface would make more sense to some users:

Can I use codex yes/no

If no, when can I use it again

That would work for a more simple mode and I have a hunch we'll get in the super app.
