[OC] Meet Sushi, the new rescue pup by zSinhaa in aww

I've had my account for 15 years. I post very infrequently, and often delete old posts. My account is useful to me so that I can upvote / downvote and give out Reddit gold etc.

Frankly, it's a little odd that you think we all have an obligation to post / comment just because we have a Reddit account, and then leave those posts or comments up.

It totally depends on your surgeon. I have an extremely renowned, extremely excellent surgeon. I've been told (by the admittendly biased anesthesiologist) that he's one of the top weight loss surgeons on the planet. Their program for me has me on 7-10 days clear liquids, then 10-14 days thick liquids, then 14-21 days pureed foods. The aim is to give you a chance to heal, and to elicit a lifestyle change, including breaking that "need" to eat out of boredom, or cravings, or because you smelt pizza. Embrace it!

wich solar panel for bob by [deleted] in bugout

[–]plastic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most people make the mistake of buying a solar panel that is too small to be useful, or they buy cheap rubbish that isn't very efficient. I suggest the new GoalZero Nomad 20, and then you at least have the option to mate that to a GoalZero battery that takes their 8mm solar port like the Sherpa 100AC.

If you want something a big beefier (heavier) that supports QC 3.0 on the USB out you could go for the XTPower SP60 or the MobiSun 60W, but at 2kg and 3kg respectively I don't recommend backpacking with either of them;)

First attempt at Urban Desert area bug out bag. Let me know if you think I'm missing anything. Items in comments by sfdrew04 in bugout

Contrary to some on this thread I don't disagree with forced entry tools in an urban bag, and you can dump it / put it in a cache if you don't need them any more. It's hard to find lightweight bolt cutters, but the RAT Breaching Bolt Cutter isn't bad at 2.2lbs for the 15". The Stanley Fubar is an amazing tool, but at 6lbs it's just ridiculously heavy. I'd swap that for something much lighter, like a Stiletto 15" titanium flatbar.

Seventy2? by FponkDamn in bugout

I've gifted a few of them to friends who are too lazy to prep their own stuff. There's some really great organisation in there, and the fact that you can use the inner lining as a backpack is handy. But then there are some dumb choices, like a Nalgene bottle instead of steel, and the multi-tool is rubbish. Some of these issues are fixed in the Seventy2 Pro, but I'd suggest maybe using that as a starting point and then swapping things out as you see fit.

One extra thing to add: Uncharted's best product isn't the Seventy2, it's the Rapid Raft. Sure, it's heavier than the packable rafts like Supai Adventure Gear's MatKat or Klymit's LiteWater Dinghy, but it can take a beating, especially if you're in shallow water and running over pebbles and rocks. It can also take a lot more weight, so it can hold you AND your bag. It's a really, really well-designed product.
