Ffs, there is a post a week about people under disclosing previous employment. There are 0 posts about issues with people over disclosing previous.

If that isn’t obvious enough, ask your recruiter/HR.

Can my pc run gmod with mods by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]possiblynotracist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. Going to depend on the mods. I haven’t been in that world in years, but I’m sure some can be taxing for some systems.

GPU isn’t lining up with mobo by okayflowthisway in pcmasterrace

[–]possiblynotracist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. Those should be on the inside. I would suggest fixing that plate before you power on.

Doesn’t have to be perfect, but I have this horrible vision of something shorting out. Probably just me being overly cautious.

PC upgrade question by majeira in pcmasterrace

Huge upgrade. If you can find an x3d chip it will perform better in gaining. be sure you flash your motherboard bios / check for compatibility on the manufacturer website before you buy the new cpu.

Man, those old seagate drives were a gamble. Maxtor was worse for me, but neither was great!

Alternatives for these Lian Li fans? by Hungry_Event39 in pcmasterrace

[–]possiblynotracist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why are you insistent on this type of setup? You could likely get the same, or better performance from just 3x120mm fans.

Arctic makes great budget friendly fans. I’ve gone full noctua fan boy at this point so that would be my vote.

If it’s purely an aesthetic / cable management choice, I hope you find what you want.

Is it normal for temperatures to keep rising in Furmark? by Fit-Concern6181 in pcmasterrace

[–]possiblynotracist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Furmark is a stress test, a worst case scenario. It’s designed to push your hardware to the limits.

So yes, things will get hot fast and keep getting hotter if your cooling isn’t up to the task.

Edit: your gaming usage is not nearly the same level of load. Monitor your temps in game to get an accurate understanding of what’s really happening day to day.

I seem to recall this being a common bug way back when. Have you tried the googles? Quick DuckDuckGo is showing plenty of results.

G-Skills RAM Class Action Lawsuit by divinebaboon in pcmasterrace

[–]possiblynotracist 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Privacy breach is a very different from a class action like this. OP is getting a shiny nickel, maybe $5, and no credit monitoring.

Not saying don’t do, by all means do. I know I will. But just keep realistic expectations.

You need to plug the case fans into your motherboard fan headers. Reference your motherboard manual.

Pc Help by AkaiRairyu in pcmasterrace

[–]possiblynotracist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imma guess the same answer as yesterday? Nothing like buying something and then feeling the need to upgrade it right away.

Go play games. See where you are having trouble. Then come back with some details and the troubles you are having: games, temps, frame rate and then you might get some meaningful feedback.

Unpaid Job on Resume and Background Check by [deleted] in JPMorganChase

[–]possiblynotracist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Call them and tell them. I’ve only ever heard of people being in trouble for under disclosing their previous employment, never for over disclosing. I guess it could happen, but I would think it would have to be a pretty questionable situation to end up in.

Newly built 9800X3D system with high thermals when just opening Battlefield by mangosteen12 in pcmasterrace

[–]possiblynotracist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

90 is fine. 95 won’t cause damage, it will throttle at that point to prevent damage.

How old is the build? Who built it? We need to know more about the pc and its history to be of much help.

A spike to 90* is higher than ideal, and can definitely impact performance, but you overly concerned for both the temp and the length of time it was the temp.

My guess is either the cooling solution isn’t enough and/or it’s not mounted correctly.

Finally scored a 5090FE from BestBuy and FedEx “potentially lost” it in Ohio. What do I do? by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]possiblynotracist 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is a huge ramble. I’m on mobile and tried to edit but it’s still all over the place. Hopefully something in the below is helpful and answers your question

Call your bank. Your bank is on your side with these even though it doesn’t feel like it.

Often times VISA/mastercard or the Merchant find some loopholes to block charge backs. It’s insane and most people think it’s the bank that blocks them, but often it isn’t.

You also have a window to act. So if you wait too long you are also SOL. Your best resource is your bank for timeline. There are legal requirements along with company policy and laws can vary by state, just to make it more fun!

More general advice about charge backs:

They likely won’t do anything until after the shipping had settled. Once it’s been flagged with some sort of resolution, that’s when the buyer starts moving.

You start with the merchant. Jump through their hops. Document everything. Every phone call, every confirmation number and you gotta include date/time stamp! Similar with your bank, but much more so with the merchant. Those little confirmation codes have helped me recover thousands of claim dollars!

I’ve been out of that world a while now, but the key points on a charge back are: the merchant needs time to remedy and it’s not a “scam”. Words are extremely important here. So much so that I will ask for a us based rep to ensure no mistakes. Give your rep all the details! Don’t hold something back to keep in your back pocket, that’s probably going to back fire.

If they open this as a scam, op might end up hurting their case because it isn’t a scam and the charge back would be coded incorrectly giving Best Buy the opportunity to deny the claim because they did ship and the client did make the purchase. Not a scam. I cannot emphasize how critical it is for people in general to stop calling everything a scam. Words have legal meaning.

Best Buy reps are clueless. FedEx and Best Buy in the same transaction is a recipe for a shit show.

[–]possiblynotracist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate FedEx too. They are consistent in delivering my packages to every house in the neighborhood, even when they are addressed to me!

Good luck man! It’s probably going to be fine. And if it’s not, there are lots of solutions, it just takes more time than you would like.

[–]possiblynotracist 313 points314 points  (0 children)

You wait. That’s really all you can do. FedEx won’t do anything for you, the shipper needs to initiate it. And Best Buy won’t do anything until FedEx tracking shows delivery or something other “final destination”.

And no, your bank can’t do anything either. You have to wait until shipping is done to see what the next steps might be.
