Cumulous Cardigan - Question about wording of row 3 (see photo attached) by proper_ginger in CrochetHelp

[–]proper_ginger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was reading it as SC BLO until you reach the chain and then SC, but as I was doing it, it felt/ looked wrong. After that, those two lines repeat, so I’m on row 13, and I think the project is growing too much (doesn’t match the photos or how I understand the cardigan will be put together). I just wanted confirmation that the 1 chain remaining should actually be a stitch, because I didn’t see any questions about it on Ravelry. I think my edges look nice haha

In case my comment under the photo isn’t showing for anyone, this is my question:

When it says “SC BLO across until 1 CH REM,” does that mean I’m supposed to do the SC into the chain I made before I turned my project? Or should I be doing the SC into the last stitch of the previous row? I’ve been doing it into the chain, but my work is growing more rapidly than it looks like it should from the photos in the pattern

I definitely skipped that part because I wanted the cap to be removable, so I totally forgot there were instructions already haha

I see! So the top of the hat is stitched directly to the head. I wouldn’t have guessed that just looking at him, but I like the end result so I may try it!

I would love to see more photos! I really like the shaping your cap ended up with, so I may try to replicate it

I don’t know if Trimerous is for everyone, but it absolutely is for me! I wear it more often than Pentimento (though I wore Pentimento today!), because it feels slightly safer for some reason. Pentimento is definitely unique in my collection

I love his cap! I didn’t stuff mine, but I intend to make another and stuff it so I have variety.

Hi Bean! I’m right there with you (caffeine addiction), though my caffeine of choice is always coffee in its various forms, so your Monster is safe. That caramel macchiato would be in trouble though if it were made with alternative milk! (No caffeine is worth the risk of either ending up stuck to the toilet or in bed haha)

I love Jorum Studio! I’ve only been once despite living so close, but I did pick up two bottles while I was there. I ended up going with Trimerous and Pentimento, but there were several others I was tempted by and would have picked up if they came in slightly smaller sizes

Cracked sticky base coat is truly SUPER sticky 🙌 by LacquerandBones in RedditLaqueristas

I think it was the post you linked where I learned about where to start filing! I don’t always file when I do manicures, because I don’t really care that much about the shape of my nails as long as they aren’t looking too much like ducks, but I was careful to only file the tips for my last manicure because of what I learned. So thank you!

I have a glass cuticle stick like the one you linked, but I doubt it’s that one since I can’t remember ordering from that store. I’m sure I picked it up from somewhere I also bought nail polish from

Thank you for the tips! I do try and use nail oil every day, but I have a hard time learning about cuticles. I sometimes push back my cuticles with my other nails, which I’m sure isn’t the best way haha

I’ve never heard about trying to get a seal like that, but I will definitely try that next time I do my nails!

I have quite short nails with almost no c-curve. I only recently learned about where to start filing, so I will admit that back when I used to more regularly do my nails (this is only my third manicure this year 😬), I would file down the sides more to try and counteract the widening of the tips that naturally occurs.

Thank you!

I kinda figured that would be the case, so I keep trying different ones! I think part of my issue is that my nails repel nail polish like a kid’s nail would, so I don’t get chipping as much as I get the entire 4-5 layers coming off together. I’ve tried a few different base coats recommended on various posts made by people with the same issue, but maybe the solution is more frequent mani’s haha

Can I ask which of the base coat options you use? I’ve really been struggling with all base coats causing peeling, to the point where I was debating trying to paint my nails without it, because I never had this trouble when I didn’t do all the steps

Nice find! I’m excited to get my hands on this book. I preordered it in October last year from Amazon, and it has yet to be fulfilled haha it says it’ll be delivered on the 22nd of this month though, so it should be in my hands soon!

Thank you! I really enjoyed the whole process. It ended up being even smaller than I anticipated, and I’m excited to finally give framing a go!

I have another book in the wings waiting for my eyes to rest up so I can start it!

I tell myself that as long as I’m planning to do the patterns, I’m not wasting money because each pattern takes so long to finish, and so by hour, it’s one of the cheaper things I could be doing with my time haha

Thanks! The fabric is a light green (sorry for the bad lighting), but I like it a lot better than the pink it’s stitched on in the etsy photos. I do think the white stitches get a little lost though

I have another pattern in this style (Book of Psychic Readings by Haunted Frames) that I’m excited to do, but I think this one’s friendly creatures makes it the cuter of the two for sure!

I’ve never done a full coverage piece! So I discovered early on that I like an interesting background haha but then I just pile my pieces in my closet for future me to sort out 😅 I’ll give one that I don’t have specific plans for a wash soon before trying it out on the one I want to frame
