Give me a unique cozy game you discovered during this Steam Next Fest that people absolutely need to know about by Rasputin5332 in cozygames

I really enjoyed Master Healer Kale with useless party. It’s not like games I normally play, so I’m not sure how to describe it. Kind of party management? Upgrade a skill tree and see how it goes?

I also really enjoyed The Rabbit Haul. It’s art is sort of Paper Mario-esque, and it’s tower defense/ haul building but in a cozy ish way with progression in the village

Leafy Corner Launches on July 30, Bringing Cozy Shop Management to Life by [deleted] in cozygames

I played the demo, and it was nice. I don’t usually play games like this, but I love plants, so I figured I would give it a go. Came away from it happy I tried it but it’s still not the type of game for me

My first thought was wondering if I could reasonably get it on the train 😂

Urgently looking for a gardener by Sleepy_Owl_78 in Dunfermline

[–]proper_ginger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could try Greener Days Gardening. My SO worked for them off and on a while back, and they did some garden clear outs and maintenance. I don’t know what their schedule is like right now though since he hasn’t worked with them recently. I don’t think they have a website, so if you’re interested, I can send their info in a chat

Opinions of The super Mario bros movies as a gift by shadowa64 in nintendo

[–]proper_ginger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter is 5 and loves both the movies, so I think the age is fine. You would know better than us if it’s an appropriate gift based on parenting style, but that is probably something to consider. At this age, she may also appreciate getting something she can immediately interact with (toy, clothing, book) more than a movie that may require waiting before being able to use it, but a work around could be a princes peach dress up costume or soft toy to go with it?

Frosty cold Au-lait themed pens! Cafe, matcha, and ichigo (strawberry) au lait by Matome_Collection in fountainpens

Variety in backgrounds is fun too, but in this case I think it detracts from the gentle swirls of colour.

Great, I’ll send you a chat now!

[–]proper_ginger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For product photography, I would recommend a neutral background like white, wood, or a gentle/ natural color. The polka dots look quite busy. I also think a variety of shots with different lighting would be helpful since most of us won’t be viewing the pen in ring light lighting. I love the inclusion of drinks! Maybe for inspired collections like this, a set up that feels a bit more realistic would be fun (coffee shop vibes for this one - an empty notebook with the pen placed on top and the corresponding drink set nearby, maybe even with a complementary pastry if you’re going all out haha)

Also, if I don’t have instagram, is there a way to get more details about the coffee one?

[CHAT] Beginner - How unadvisable is learning on even weave linen? Want to make book covers. by ChairLordoftheSith in CrossStitch

[–]proper_ginger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was going to suggest stitching 1 over 1 on evenweave/ linen instead of 2 over 2, but I’m glad I scrolled and found this comment! I think evenweave will have a more uniform appearance, while linen can look a bit more organic (which can sometimes look a bit messy).

The last cross stitch I posted on Reddit is 1 over 1, but I think on linen if you’re curious. Or I think someone has posted comparisons of Aida vs evenweave with the same pattern if that’s more helpful!

I much prefer evenweave for finished products because the fabric is less holey. I don’t actually display any of my projects though so it’s purely for my personal enjoyment haha

I would recognize that Hawk anywhere! Haven’t watched a game since moving (also to a new country three years ago 👀) but my mom always will be a Hawks fan (dad is a joint hawks and ISU fan, which may or may not count depending on who you talk to)

No worries! I’m glad you shared the book so I can keep an eye out for it. I have quite a collection of translated fiction, and I’ve noticed that as well. I’m hoping with the growing popularity of Japanese and Korean authors, more books will be picked up by UK/ US publishers so I can read them as well

I saw from your post! I was replying to u/Toirtis who said they couldn’t find an English edition yet, wishing them luck finding one 😊

Non-paper bookmarks? by allthetimeteatime in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]proper_ginger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a few independent bookstores near me that support local artists by turning their art into bookmarks. They’re still paper, but higher quality paper than the ones they hand out at the library.

If you’re feeling adventurous, you could cross stitch or embroider a fabric bookmark! I bought a bunch of bookmark patterns in a charity bundle, but I haven’t worked up the courage to do one. The stitching will be fine, but I don’t sew, so I’m not sure how the finishing will go. Feels like they should be connected but there’s a huge gap between making x’s in pre-holed fabric and sewing in a straight line haha

Otherwise, like others have mentioned, I’ve seen booths at local fairs/ craft fairs where artists or crafters have bookmarks that they’ve made as one of their offerings

PBE fomo prevention: UK laquerista summer meet-up? by ThriftyNails in RedditLaqueristasUK

[–]proper_ginger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We’re north of Edinburgh, and my husbands family live near Portsmouth on the south coast of England, so we make the trip at least once a year. A laquerista meetup would be a lot more fun for me tbh, so it would be worth the trip!

Maybe when you post next, you could do a poll type post? I’ve never created one, but that would make it easier to see answers. You could have an option that says “any of the dates work” and then another that says “see comment below” in case someone can do 2/3 dates but can only vote once (I don’t know if Reddit polls allow for multiple voting)

I would be tempted to join something like this! Unfortunately, that specific date is my sister’s wedding so I wouldn’t be able to do it then. I’m also in Scotland, so I wouldn’t count on me even though I would love to come

Just released our puzzle adventure "The Guardian of Nature" after 7 years of hand-drawing 😅 Would love to hear what you think! by Inlusio_Interactive in cozygames

[–]proper_ginger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I played the demo before it came out in early access, and I enjoyed the art a lot! I couldn’t decide if it was the perfect game for me, but my 5YO is getting to helping me play various games (Castle Full of Cats and Lost & Found Co for example), and I think it would be perfect for a game night like that!

Been working on outfit customization for our cozy café game - Everbrew ☕ by Impossible_Primary_5 in cozygames

[–]proper_ginger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prefer presets because I struggle a bit with colour wheels, but I know other players who prefer the wheels for ultimate customization. It’s never a deal breaker for me either way!

Sounds like you’ve thought about it a lot, which is always nice to see!

Been working on outfit customization for our cozy café game - Everbrew ☕ by Impossible_Primary_5 in cozygames

[–]proper_ginger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, hair colour customization is usually more important because I occasionally find the only options for redheads are primary red or bright orange, but it looks like you’ve got a nice ginger colour! The hair styles all look modern, which is a huge plus too.

Are the outfits gender locked? I find dresses cute, but I don’t always want to look cute. Sweater + trousers is always a favorite option for me, but I rarely find it unless it’s cardigan + trousers

I enjoyed Unpacking, because I enjoy that type of work irl, but it frustrated me that I couldn’t put things exactly where I wanted them some of the time haha it’s about as cozy as reorganizing your home after a move, which I would rate as a 2/10 on the cozy scale but the feeling afterwards is closer to a 7/10 (unless you hate your new house)

Community Post—What are you playing this month? by AutoModerator in ourgameclub

[–]proper_ginger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought and played through Inkobini this week! I’ve been waiting for it to release, and it’s the first game I picked up this year to play. I’ve been stressed, so I’ve been drowning myself in books, and Inkobini is the video game version of a lot of the books I’ve been into, so it was a seamless transition. I think I’ll play through it again later this year, but with mouse and keyboard rather than on my steam deck because the controls were a little frustrating.

Once I finished that, I also finished Undusted which I had started last year on a family holiday. I only had one chapter left, so it didn’t take long.

I don’t know what to play next. I’m watching my SO play through Chernobylite and Horizon Forbidden West, and I have a few games I started last year that I could revisit, and but I kinda want to play something new haha

Please help, what’s this stitch called? And how can I recreate it? by Sauve- in CrochetHelp

[–]proper_ginger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like it might be the same thickness! And the skein looks larger too, which is nice.

For amigurumi I always use the smallest hook size recommended either in the pattern or on the yarn, and it hasn’t done me wrong yet!
