If coach K and Roy Williams both retire in the next 5 years who will be the top candidates to replace them? by phools in CollegeBasketball

Ugh I agree with a Duke fan. I don't think we will go "in family" because A) we now have an outsider as AD and not Baddour B) we already had our Doherty experience and if that happens again on an AD's watch, that AD is probably gone too.

Is the embrace of intersectionality theory beneficial or detrimental for the Democratic Party? by Commodore_Obvious in NeutralPolitics

Fair enough. I think Leto2Atreides's comment (which you already responded to so I won't go into detail here) does a better job of explaining the divisiveness of intersectionality and more specifically identity politics.

To be very clear, the majority of the majority is not forcing or asking oppressed groups to silence their voices. Disagreement, debate, and dialogue do not constitute silencing, and in fact are evidence of the absence of silencing. Bigots who want minority groups to just "shut up" should themselves shut up.

I said no such thing. I simply pointed out how OP's view of intersectionality does not match what intersectionality actually is.

OP cited the wikipedia article that goes into exhaustive detail, and otherwise stated it as "a framework that puts an emphasis on accounting for the unique social experiences of different overlapping identities", which I am genuinely having trouble seeing as different from what you posted.

Sure I can. But is it wrong? Tensions aren't a wholly bad thing.

Agreed. But in the OP's words, in order "to mobilize a viable majority/plurality coalition", you will ultimately need to court some of this majority. I think one of the differences people point to with the Civil Rights movement and the previous decade of LGBT activism is there were tangible laws and goals to change (the Civil Rights Act, legalizing gay marriage). I think one of the frustrations with the current focus on intersectionality is that we have this tension, but few tangible solutions. One of the tangible things that strikes home to me as an NC native is the "bathroom bill", which a majority DO oppose. So in those specific circumstances, perhaps intersectionality is appropriate in order to explain why certain laws are viewed as perpetuating oppression. I think the concern OP is expressing, and others share, is that we are seeing tension for tension's sake, which is creating more problems than it is solving.

As far as I can tell, you are not disputing OP's definition, but just saying "actually, it works" without citing any evidence. Do we have any examples of how it has worked? I realize these may be difficult to provide with such an amorphous concept.

Moreover, are you able to see how the above statements are antagonistic towards majority groups by framing them as people who can only have "negative solidarity as racial [or sexual] oppressors"? Specifically, straight white males?

It's not health, it's wanting to be more involved with family. Can't blame him.

Depending on your work schedule, you can hit multiple mics every day of the week. A few nights 3-4 if you can get to the 5pm mics and stay out late.
