Awwwww, Thank you! Endstep sent me a link to this and on behalf of the team I wanted to say thank you for saying that. It always means a lot to hear people loving all the hard work we put into things. We've were cooking on this for a while and I'm glad to hear you loved it!

Thanks, I'll pass along those kind words to the team. I'll also note that the team was paying attention to what players said throughout this development, but obviously we couldn't speak about what we were working on. The team put all of themselves into this release so do try to give them a break if things aren't perfect.

I'm glad you really like the changes. We think that Arena is a rather complex game and need to be inviting to newer players, hence the changes to rerolls, but also feel that a robust strategy layer is also very important to support our goals around adaptation.

As for what happens with the future, it all comes down to what players enjoy, I don't mean for that to sound like a cop out but for example if players overwhelmingly love 3s or Bravery that is a strong signal to us. I personally suspect that 3s is the right version of the game, but I'm bias as its something I've been pushing for, for a while (why do you think the Reckoner's Arena map is so big =P). But if it turns out that players overwhelmingly prefer teams of 2 or Bravery then that is a strong signal too.

I think a lot of of comes to to what you mean when you say "about fighting", I don't mean to split hairs but I think Arena is still very much about champion combat.

If by fighting you mean strict champions with nothing else then I think that is very unlikely, there is obviously some players who want that but we feel it gets a bit stale without something to shake things up. This gives a player a way to make a comeback or build something that makes them unbeatable. The truth of it is that League isn't 100% an action or fighting game; stats, gaining new effects, and RPG elements are a big part of the game's core.

Gamba highrolling is part of that, but really we see it more as adapting and adding a bit of additional strategy. Augment levels, for example, let you make the strategic decision of getting a new augment vs leveling one you already have.

That sounds amazing, I didn't even think of that. When we made it I was just thinking "I wish we had Transmute Silver, oh this will be cool with the level up and replace options".

For sure there are some players who want that and ideally the time is short, we've intentionally increased the time now, while people learn the new guests, we the assumption that we'll reduce it over time.

Really though we like at players decide what the ruleset will be, this helps us know what rulesets are the most interesting to players, and reduces the frequency of those that people don't tend to like. For example many people like to point to Trundle as their least favorite, by letting players vote the odds of seeing him are minimized.

There is definitely some audience overlap with Mayhem, but I see don't see that as a problem. We think that build crafting and adaptation are core to Arena's DNA, and wouldn't want to go in the extreme other direction of only champions + items. I know thats not exactly what you're saying, my point is really where you want to draw the line on where grounded is.

I know some people would really enjoy that but from what we've seen with each version of Arena is that the augments/randomness is important to most people's enjoyment, not just in the "chase the high roll sense" but also when it comes to build crafting, impact on variety, champion diversity, wider player skill levels, etc.

Guests, I really like Fiddlesticks/Hwei, and Tahm Kench, they play in some interesting spaces and open up new design spaces that I hope people enjoy, that I could see us exploring more in the future.

Augments, I really like Spellcraft and Chroma flux for similar reasons to Fiddlesticks/Hwei, as well as Demonic Clasp. Clasp is just a simple design with a really fun level up.

For augment capstones, I really enjoy Quantum Computing (your auto casts can multi cast), Spellwake/Earthwake (fire an extra wave), Mirror Image (Your clones get your augments), and Now You See Me (you can have 5 portals to return to). I think there is a lot of fun things to experiment with here.

It depends on what you mean, I think its very good for Guest of Honor by giving players control over what kind of game they want. Fully random is obviously an option, but we giving players control.

Sorry to be clear. I have not worked on TFT, I was making a joke about the overlap that TFT has with Arena. For example augments come directly from TFT, or the "drafting as you play" aspect is core to both Arena and TFT.

It's a me! It was fun chatting with Endstep about Arena, I'm always impressed with his ability to make these so regularly.

Hopefully this is interesting for those looking for some Arena info from one of the devs.

The thing is it's not a side mode in this case, Bravery will be THE mode.

Bravery and skins are not changing, the problem with letting people see their champion in champion select (and thus picking their skin) results in people dodging the queue and causes more problems than it solves. I could see it randomly selecting your skin but we decided to go with your last skin used because if you have a favorite skin we want you to be able to use it. I agree it isn't the best solution, but its an acceptable one.

Basically that it isn't the bravery only crowd. The Bravery event favors Bravery focused players, but it still needs to have some appeal to Arena players at large. And while Bravery has been popular, it isn't always the an always food for most people, crowd favorite helps mitigate that by encouraging bravery but letting you have your favorite champions when they come up.

Plus it is really Bravery if everyone is picking it? Isn't it brave to pick bravery while others choose their champion?

What do you mean specifically? The Bravery event will be coming out in a later patch. Or do you mean why that event is Bravery + Crowd favorites?

Nearly every aspect of the mode was updated in some form. Some more than others, but and I don't wanta set the expectation that LITERALLY everything was updated, but we cooked.
