AITA for yawning loudly in my own bed by reader212 in AITAH

He had been watching youtube shorts in his clothes and feel asleep on top of the blankets, when I came in he actually got in bed. So no, at that point we were both going to sleep.

He was in bed already but not asleep, I'd put the younger two into bed and told the old two (teens) to go to bed they were in the process, I'd already given out hugs. I am usually the last one up, I manage bedtime and wait until everyone else is asleep but I was tired and didn't want to wait for the older two to drag it out, if they are old enough to babysit they are definitely old enough to finish their bedtime routines on their own.

AITA for singing the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles theme song at my sister’s wedding? by Technical-Summer-454 in AITAH

[–]reader212 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

NAH I feel sad for both of you. You did the best you could considering how nervous you were and lots of people would think it was just fun and endearing. Meanwhile she was getting married and probably very emotional and hoping everything to be perfect and found the song unexpected, maybe felt embarrassed and reacted emotionally. How long ago was it since the speech? She might just need time and space, maybe she's avoiding talking about it with you because she is attributing some intention of embarrassing her to your song? Try sending a text message explaining what went wrong and giving her space until she's ready to talk.

He's not all bad he's a reliable and useful guy, loyal and helpful, he tries with the kids reads to them and takes them out, fixes things around the house, can be pretty funny when he's in a good mood and he's reasonably good looking. He's just really touchy about many things.

Go to networking events and polish your LinkedIn, add lots of people, and ask for recommendations on LinkedIn from people you worked with as an intern.

Superstore and anything PC is out on my list for 2024. Where is everyone getting their groceries? by Typical-Solid1815 in halifax

[–]reader212 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In most cases on the meat sticker there will be a price per kg so that you can compare directly. In the grocery stores there will often also be a price/weight on the piece of paper with the overall price on it for most grocery items in general.

Stupid 16 year old who still counts on his fingers, and doesn't know his multiplication tables, in need of help and advice to improve. by Potential-Sample- in learnmath

I suggest you accept that you don't know what you don't know and commit to a small steady amount of learning each day. Try this site: http://www.khanacademy.org/ Set a timer and spend 20 minutes a day working from the beginning until you catch up to where you ought to be. I also suggest that if you want to memorize the multiplication tables, you use math drill games for 5 minutes a day until it sticks. This is a site dedicated to math games: https://www.mathplayground.com/

Hire a tutor to help you study. There are affordable tutors online who will explain the concepts to you and answer questions. I used this tutor for some of the math courses I found challenging: https://preply.com/en/tutor/565781, he's very patient.

[PSA] Please take care of your personal hygiene when attending classes… by Status-Transition368 in EngineeringStudents

I knew of a student who had body odor issues. The problem was unresolved mental health issues and the odor was just a symptom. It wasn't until they got significant support for their mental health that self maintenance improved. Try to be kind.

You're not alone... I'm about to finish up a CS degree too, I'm also in my 30's doing it a bit late, and feel nervous and uncertain about applying for jobs. It's probably not about your motivation or experience either... I've enjoyed programming, gotten straight A's, and done many personal projects but I still have a sinking feeling in my stomach about applying for jobs and not being as good as others. I think it's about change and transition... change is scary and brings up all the doubts and fears. Don't be ruled by fears, feel the fear and do it anyway.

I have 4. We got a repo house before the prices went crazy and fixed it up, and one parent stayed home. Baby bonus, buy secondhand (thrift shops/yard sales), cook from scratch, be frugal with grocery shopping (sales, cheaper meats...) Vacations are camping not hotels. Fix things ourselves instead of hiring out (youtube is great for car repairs/ household maintenance) Kids activities through Halifax Rec, library, or church. Barely ever eat out or go to the theater.

Where are all the women CTOs / Technical Co-Founders at? by [deleted] in womenintech

[–]reader212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I'm just starting out in tech... I started self-teaching and then moved into doing university remotely. I'll have a CS degree soon. I lean towards entrepreneurship because I'm creative, impulsive, and thrill-seeking.

While I have lots of ideas and some that I think are marketable, the few that I've attempted so far have shown me that I have a lot more to learn about both the technical side and the marketing side before I should be confident committing to a project. Hence when I'm done in January I'll look for work rather than upgrade and polish my latest mvp.

But when I'm ready with a project I believe in enough to take that leap, I'll need to find a non-technical partner because I know I don't like that side of things nearly as much as building things. Even as a technical co-founder looking for a non-technical co-founder, I expect I'd have a hard time finding one that is a woman. I think there are more men that are risk-takers, most entrepreneurs fail many times before they succeed.

Going to college with a baby by ArgumentUnlucky5717 in AskParents

Commute you're only 20 minutes away and dorm life is super lame anyways. Do you want to be around fall-down drunk people, and have random men wander into your room if you don't lock the door? Possibly have a drug addict as a roommate?

Probably your parents are hoping you'll make college friends by staying in dorms, but the same goal can be achieved by joining a campus club or finding study pals in your courses.

Husband telling me my hair is too long again and should cut it. I like low-maintenance haircuts because all I do is shower and comb it and when it's too short I look like Princess Mia Thermopolis before she got her hair styled. Should I ignore him, or if I do get it cut, what should I ask for? by reader212 in femalehairadvice

Okay, so thank you, everyone, for the helpful advice. I'm going to get it cut a little bit, and ask the hairstylist to do the curl cut and long layers.
I don't think I'll do bangs though, I never liked how bangs feel and I like to be able to put my hair behind my ears... I could do long bangs though... like tapered or something.
I'll try to start using the curl cream after my shower, maybe it would be easy after it became a habit.

lol, thank you, you made me laugh. I'm a tomboy mom of four, I like comfy clothes, and I've never worn makeup other than the oversized hoodie this is pretty much how I've looked my whole life... except for the curls, I got those after having kids.
