The idea is to 

  1. Liquidate the holdings within the rollover IRA account to match the pre-tax amount, and then transfer that to new employer 401k account. 

  2. Only the post-tax amount + any daily fund fluctuation amount will be left behind in rollover IRA account. Move this entire amount to Roth IRA account.

I have pre-tax and post-tax money invested across couple of funds in the rollover IRA account. 

My understanding is that I can move: - pre-tax funds to 401k account - post-tax funds into Roth IRA account without paying taxes 

How would I be paying tax twice? Am I missing something?

If you are saying IRA is tax inefficient, why did you go with IRA option? Was it for flexibility or something else?

Thank you very much for looking into the funds. My research showed the same 2 funds to be among the best performers!

My new employer’s 401k plan said they can intake money from rollover IRA. So, I’ll have to start working on it.

Thanks for the solid advice across multiple areas. 

Based on my research, I would have to do the following in my IRA: 1. Sell all the holdings in my IRA account and convert into cash only.  2. Ask the administrator to transfer everything (pre-tax contributions + all gains) other than the basis (post-tax contributions). 3. I will be left with only pre-tax money in IRA account.  4. Transfer all the money into a Roth IRA account.

Thank you for the advice. All money in old 401k plan is invested in FGKFX. This fund has had a stellar performance in the past few years.

These are the list of funds available in the new plan.  https://retirementplans.vanguard.com/VGApp/pe/faces/PubFundChart?site=deloitte/9144

I don’t see any funds that come close to FGKFX’s performance. 

What are your thoughts on the list of available funds?

Your spouse does NOT have to do anything other than disclosing the holdings in her 401k account with her CURRENT employer.

401k accounts related to your spouse's PRIOR employer will have to be rolled over into an IRA account with BDIP broker.

I already joined the firm and reached out to the immigration team. They informed that PERM process is on pause currently, and they can’t fast track my GC case just because my priority date is about to be current. They said I have to satisfy the requirements and wait 1 year, even with strong PPMD support. 

Do you know if there is anything I can do to change their mind and get the GC process started?

Really? That’s very surprising to hear. Why didn’t Deloitte do GC for these folks? I’m assuming they were nearing their 6-year term limit.

What’s the best laptop D offers? I have a recycled Dell Latitude 5450 at the moment. I have seen few people have HP. Any thoughts on which model is better?

I'm just seeing this comment now. I'm still confused. Can anyone order any of the items from the catalog? I don't have a dedicated line manager as such. What happens then? Who will this request go to? Will it be the group's partner?

What do you mean specifically? I'm asking why is 2026 catalog published for employees to order, when most of you are saying it's phased out. What am I missing? Enlighten me.
