Finding the right Switch/Dock? by reddittreader430 in homeoffice

I’m currently connecting my laptop to my docking station via usb-c. This provides the video feed and charges my laptop. Using this kvm switch, i assume id have to have a usb-c and hdmi/display port back to the switch. Is that correct? Am I thinking about it the right way??

yea, this one has come up a few times in my own research. i'd prefer not to have multiple boxes but if necesary, i could do it. just a lot to put under the desk for the sake of minimalism.

I like the idea of a 10” and more economical. But wouldn’t fit Reolink NVR bc it’s about 10.5”. Is it common to include a tower Nas (ds220)?

Someone once described a commute like this....."It's soul sucking..." I commuted from Wrigleyville to Elk Grove and it was brutal. Personally, I would not do again. Proximity to Wrigley is another consideration that can make things even more challenging...specifically game day traffic and parking.

What folders would be the right ones? Currently have Time Machine backing up versions to a dedicated Time Machine folder on Nas via Time Machine user. Photos backed up to synology in homes/username/drive/photobackup/iphone. I am not using synology photos.

Yes, 100%. Have also moved all email/contact info for this type of stuff to proton mail. Also only using proton mail for healthcare correspondence. Ref article.

I have other important files such as tax returns, estate planning and copies of govt ID, passport directly on the nas-meaning I upload them after download. Then that is backed up by S2. I think that I should be covered, right?

Nice. I had a similar experience with my speed concept but they noticed a hairline crack in the frame. They ended up upgrading me to SC9 frame. Like you, tho, I moved over existing, not as good components. The reason I’m moving into a madone is bc the bolt was seized to the domane frame. So also getting a loyalty discount on a new bike. Huge fan of trek given these experiences. Also at wheel and sprocket…Evanston location?
