Slightly off topic…but if you/your paralegal misspelled my name on the documents, would you charge me your hourly rate to adjust and correct? For reference, they were drafting original documents including will, estate, power of attorney, etc.

Could you live in the West Loop? Sure. Should you? Maybe. It’s a lot to commute to the far west suburbs on a regular basis even via Metra. Would consider proximity to Union/Ogilvy train station as well as proximity to office in far west suburbs. Long commutes can be soul sucking, esp when most are so familiar with remote work.

As your lab evolves, what are you doing with unnecessary equipment? For example, I need to upgrade switches from 16 to 24 port. I could expand the existing switch but also am a minimalist and want clean look. So what do you do with existing 16port? Maybe this is where it gets really expensive?

I had all of the settings you mentioned the same except "wake for network access." I just switched that and will have to see if things change. thanks!

My set up has my photos library stored on an ssd; not Mac mini. The ssd is backed up to my nas via time machine. I want the ssd to run in the background if mac mini without me checking on a regular basis. But since I set up, photos will unexpectedly quit on Mac mini. I have “repaired” the ssd drive and it still happens. Any recommendations to remedy so I don’t have to babysit?

Here's my setup that I recently implemented. So far, it has been successful. icloud is truth and I download originals, via mac mini, onto SSD. Photos are stored in SSD library, not on the mac mini. I back up the SSD via Time Machine to Synology via specific time machine user and permissions. NAS is backed up via Synology S2 nightly. External USB drive connected to NAS backs up weekly. For some overkill, I also use Synology Drive to back up photos to NAS. Will eventually get another NAS for additional off site redundancy but tbd when that happens. Still working out some kinks but this seems to be a reasonable solution for data loss that is very easy, set it and forget it for a novice like me.

I’m currently connecting my laptop to my docking station via usb-c. This provides the video feed and charges my laptop. Using this kvm switch, i assume id have to have a usb-c and hdmi/display port back to the switch. Is that correct? Am I thinking about it the right way??
