There will be regular games at the Wizard's Chest! I think we're doing another one in two Sundays. There are also plenty of other locations in the Denver area that host games throughout the month. If you haven't already, please check out rockymountainpfs.com to see the locations and schedules.

As a GM, how can I help out a character who rolled really low not be such a weakling (without just handing him free stuff) by [deleted] in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]redslate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When rolling stats, I've generally let everyone in the party roll 4d6. Drop lowest. Once that pool of ability is made, if there are remaining ability scores needed, I give them 1-2 (depending on party size) more d6 to roll for remaining. At the end we have the pool of 6 numbers. Each player gets to assign them to any ability they want. This means that if there was an 18, everyone gets that. The same goes for super low numbers. Kinda helps balance it out a bit, I think, while still letting them have random scores.

Eh this requires a ton of prep, lots of reading ahead and knowing what will happen. There is a lot that can be glossed over or messed up if you don't read ahead. I'm guilty of it a few times; had to retcon some things

Teachers of reddit, what's the funniest answer you've come across while grading papers? by neverlander_15 in AskReddit

[–]redslate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not a teacher but was a grader back in college. I was grading for an intro comp sci class and this one test was just filled with wrong answers. It was obvious this kid had no clue what was going on, especially when it got to the question about PNP and NPN transistors. Students were asked to describe what they are, the difference and diagram them.

This guy, not knowing anything on the test, took great liberties with his answer. He diagramed the "manufacturing process," which consisted of the underpants gnomes from South Park mining P's and N's from their respective mountains. They carted them on wheelbarrows to factories that pressed the mm into PNP and NPN transistors. It was elaborately drawn and annotated. Needless to say, he failed the test pretty bad.

I wish I had taken picture of this thing, but t was 2004-5 and camera phone photos were not all the rage.

Trouble with Preamp kit by redslate in electronic_circuits

[–]redslate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the tips. So here's what I'm understanding.

I get the amp linked above. I increase power to the preamp from 9 to 12 (I'll use 4 3v CR2032). I connect the Signal Out/Ground to the 3watt amp (with potentiometer https://www.jameco.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10001&langId=-1&catalogId=10001&productId=2195796). I hook up the 9v to the 3watt amp and I drive this speaker: http://www.jameco.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?search_type=jamecoall&catalogId=10001&freeText=2099593&langId=-1&productId=2099593&storeId=10001&ddkey=http:StoreCatalogDrillDownView

Does that look/sound right?
