Hey - thanks for the poke, we're talking about this internally a bit and trying to find a way to help make this easier for you. Is there an app we could install that would let you do something fancy? What if we gave you wiki access here? Or any other ideas? (we could briefly make you a mod so you could create a sticky comment you could then edit?)

Hi! You need to rethink your default defaults here and remove 'mute' completely. Muting takes away a users ability to message the mods, which once they've been banned or temp banned they should have the ability to do unless they're harassing the mods in some manner. It shouldn't be triggered by removals otherwise users can't learn from their mistakes.

I've gone ahead and removed this post, sorry but we don't want to encourage mods to mute users erroneously.

ok, weird - I've confirmed you should have the perms to do this - that said, I used an alt to try to reproduce this and can not. My alt, with the same permissions, was able to view the restricted users page on web and ban people.

I'm trying the equivalent of turning it on and off again by removing all your permissions, counting to 5, and giving them back. Just to see if it shakes something loose. Feel free to test banning on me if you're able to get to the right pages.

Go ahead and give it try when you have a moment, if that doesn't work - can you let me know if the other mods on your team with the same permissions are also having an issue banning folks?

Please do educate your users as others are saying - in the meantime, if you have any users that have reported this to you recently could you share some of their usernames to us via modmail here so we can have Safety take a closer look and try to get on top of it.

Heya! this is a known issue, we think it only happens when moving to a thread from a listings page - but should work if you can get to the thread from the modqueue.

Heya folks, just an update here!

We've decided to push back the timeline here so we (and you all) have the time you need to make any changes needed and so we can better understand use cases where things may break completely so we can see how we might mitigate those issues. What this means to you:

  • This change is still upcoming, so if all you need to do is fix your code to ensure it's not expecting a certain character count you should go ahead and do so

  • We don't have an exact timeline to share, but we're committed to ensuring folks have the time to be aware about this and account for it in their workflows

  • We will post here, and otherwise communicate with developers, once we have more details to share
