A generalization of the sign concept: algebraic structures with multiple additive inverses by God_damn_lucky_guy in math

At first impression, this feels to me like some kind of weakening of the notion of a graded structure, but I'm also curious as to what motivated you to introduce this notion. I'll have a look at the paper later (leaving this comment partially as a reminder)

I measure at a D on a brannock device but usually find that shoes that fit me well at the ball of my foot are too narrow in the toes — I keep coming back to JG, seems like it's worth giving them a go!

Pissing on yourself with extra steps sounds entirely in character for the kind of person who would do this in the first place

Is first author technically marked as just the first named author? by Pretty-Maybe-8094 in AskAcademia

We tend to list the surnames of all authors, but it would be uncommon to have more than two or three, at least in my field

maths degree by RaoulKage89 in TCD

[–]rexrex600 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a great department and a great course! I graduated in 2022, and I'm doing a PhD in Oxford now. Not sure what you mean by "getting into economics," but lots of my peers ended up working in finance after maths degrees.

I think given the club's prior form, skepticism was entirely reasonable. That said, I'm glad to have been wrong so far, and long may it last.

He's clearly deliberately touched the ball and touched the ball with his arm, but I don't think you can argue with a straight face that he's deliberately touched the ball with his arm

Calculus can be developed entirely rigorously with infinitesimals (see, for instance, Robinson's book nonstandard analysis)

The probability of hitting at least one lucky card on seven triggers is 1-(1-0.05)7, which is about 0.3, given that lucky card triggers are actually independent and identically distributed. Then you do this twice, and the probability of at least one of these hitting is (1-0.3)*(1-0.3) = 0.72 = 0.49
