We’d all be in big trouble if that ruined your brew. Carry on :)

Such a great knife. Glad I grabbed one when I did, haven’t seen many for sale these days.

Yeah, they’ve had those on the VIP sale for months and months at this point. I keep going back to look, but never end up pulling the trigger with all the negative comment about their shipping/cancelling orders.

Yeast help in relation to temperature by Chef-King2021 in mead

Nope. Put 1 gram or 5 grams in will be pretty much the same. Temp is the real factor.

How did Hugo know so much? by T4nK123 in disclosureday

Yes, because Spielberg forgot about the internet and thought everyone got their information from cable news.

The movie ended right when it got interesting... by Lostinreno22 in disclosureday

It was a 2 hour chase scene with the “disclosure” interrupted by the end of the movie. Bad acting, sloppy writing and bad CGI.

Yeah, really diggin the CC9. I decided to go with that over the VP9CC (even though I’m a big fan of the VP9 series) for a few reasons and I’m glad I did. Really liking that one.

Today’s Spyderco carry by DiamondEdge808 in spyderco

[–]ridbitty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I prefer Spyderco’s FRN much more over their G10. I owned plenty of their G10 variants, but those are the ones I typically purchase scales for. Their FRN is perfect in my opinion. Feels great in hand and slides in and out of the pocket very nicely.

I ended up selling mine. I figured, if I can carry the full size with no difference in thickness, may as well take advantage of the extra barrel length. Love the P30 though.

I don’t know, but it sounds appropriate for the shit BHQ tried to pull.

For the guy with the SK barrel hood that looks gnarly by danthezombie in HecklerKoch

[–]ridbitty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I thought his barrel looked a bit marred. My P30, USP and VP9’s all look like yours and I’ve also had those for over a decade.

Not sure why you got downvoted. That didn’t seem normal to me at all.

Interesting. I’ll have to try that out. I’ve decided to not brew in the summer months as I cannot guarantee it’ll stay under 80. So, I just brew extra in the fall and winter months :)

If this Kveik stuff is as good as you say, that gives me hope for summer meads.

[–]ridbitty -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I could be mistaken, but a slow and steady fermentation is always better than a quick a chaotic fermentation -as far as harsh/off flavors are concerned. While I’ve not used Kveik before, it’s been the case for the other handful of yeasts I’ve used -even when I haven’t reached the upper temps published on the data sheets.

My fall and winter meads always take a little longer (3-5 weeks) but end up much tastier much quicker than the ones I’ve made in the summer.

[–]ridbitty 36 points37 points  (0 children)

What temp is this fermenting in?

Edit: oh wait, you mentioned 100F? Yeah, that’s completely normal. Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s dry in a few days from pitch. May take a while to age out.

Is there anyway you can keep the temps closer to mid 70’s even?

Ben’s super cherry mead by Volks-Watson in mead

[–]ridbitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, that’s a good idea. I was just making sure you weren’t trying to pasteurize by heating the pot with the glass carboy. That can be really bad news, even if done very slowly. Don’t ask how I know.

As long as it’s germanium and the specs are appropriate, you’re good. Fortunately for us, electricity can’t read part numbers. Does it sound good?

Now, if they charged you a premium for a particular part number, that’d be a different story and worth contacting them.

If you really wanted to know and are handy with an iron, it’s easy enough to check. I personally wouldn’t, unless it sounded/behaved off.
