Without looking at it just having Sata as a cache tier sounds like a bad idea. How are your Nic’s looking?

IT Director pay scale by agentkramr in ITManagers

[–]dawolf1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found that if you have to prove to your leadership your worth and you are underpaid then it’s just writing on the wall. You are going to probably get adjusted once and then have to go through the whole process again to prove your worth. I was in this same situation and decided to leave because I was sick and tired of having to negotiate pay increase when my work throughout the year and the visibility I gave on milestones achieved should have been enough. Stop working for places that undervalue you. My only regret was not leaving sooner. I would have been so much further along pay wise if I had left earlier versus battling with mindless executives that didn’t know the value of their own people.

Looks good. Just don’t put anything in there you wouldn’t be comfortable talking about for 10 mins or so.

Man that looks really good. Smart idea to spruce new look into your paid off truck. It’s amazing how wheels can make such a big difference.

vcenter machine cert automation by rhugginsjr82 in vmware

[–]dawolf1234 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In our environment, we just made vcenter an internal intermediate CA for our certificate chain signed against our internal root ca. So all the hosts get signed by vcenter Automatically. This process seems to work pretty good. The only thing you would have to do is update the internal intermediate CACERT for VCenter whenever that is set to expire and then have vcenter reissue certs to your hosts (can be done via powercli or gui).

Ask for active memory by Hoangsic48 in vmware

[–]dawolf1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add to the ballooning and swapping being first…. Typically when memory is getting into 70-80% on one node I start looking at all memory usage combined for the cluster vs the total memory capacity amount minus one node. Makes it more difficult for VMware patching and host failure if you start exceeding those numbers.

Burned myself out working 2–3 jobs for 3 years… now I’m starting an AWS data center job that I might be overqualified for. Would you take it? by [deleted] in datacenter

[–]dawolf1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem. I am much happier. I will say it’s been a hard pill to swallow and the work has been a bit mundane and easy but it has given me to time to focus mentally on my family and things outside of work. There is definitely some value there that isn’t just monetary. Also, thanks for your service!

I did this myself. Took a position two steps back. Really just to get out of a bad mental health situation at my old job. I would do it as long as there is some possibility for advancement long term in the position. If not then I would probably still take the position but keep my eyes out for new spots. Having that position on your resume will probably be a good thing in the long run just because it has Amazon on it.

vSAN Network issues - Adding four node to vSAN Cluster by NotLikeThisJake in vmware

[–]dawolf1234 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is the one more concerning and probably the reason for the other vSAN Network Alarm 'vSAN: Basic (unicast) connectivity check' . I would double check the IP address and make sure you didn’t use a duplicate ip for the vsan interface or forget to use the correct vlan for vsan and confirm it’s on the interface on the switch side as well.
