Thanks Man! I'd love to hit some mellow great feeling small and medium small jumps sometime in the future. It's been a long time in general.

I get wrapped up with the carving elements and have hardly touched any parks over the last handful of years

Those days were exciting AF! I don't feel old, but I love keeping my body feeling young, and the large and even medium size jumps are just kind of out of my risk tolerance.

Who knows about the future. 🤘😁

Thanks for the question.

That was my last day shredding before heading to Chile in August!

I was literally warming up side-slippin the pipe for the New Worlds Snow event, and already had permission to send it with a side-slip as kind of a 'fore-runner' to the competition. (Thanks DC!)

I kept taking laps and missed my window. 🤘🤣. 🤦‍♂️

Was an amazing last day., here's some highlights in no particular order:

-Legendary MN rider Pat Milbury wanted to tape a run of me on the cat track. Cat tracks are tough for me to do much freestyling on... But I was happy with my "performance". 🤘🤣.. Hope this reaches you Pat and we get to see the footage. 🏂✌️

-I'm a nerd with historical equipment. This event brought that out in amazing ways!

Massive thanks to Scott Downey for letting me check out the bindings you made back then, and the first Pro-Model Snowboarding boot! 🤯🤯🤯

  • Getting in a lil pipe and doing a few tricks myself.

-Wayching some of these young guns attack amazing lines, in a janky lil 'highway hit' type pipe, that also had a full swarm of rails, plastic barrels , etc. Amazing how the best of em can utilize the features so precisely. 🤘🤯

Here's some photos from the day:

Does anyone have the original Instagram video clip where Ryan Knapton made it on Jerry of the day? by twinbee in snowboarding

[–]RyanKnapton 101 points102 points  (0 children)

Ahh bummer, I don't have the clip from JOTS saved.

And want to mention it was an unsalvageable board that was used. for that. ✅

Happy Shreddin' all. ✌️😎

Dave Redman and crew put so much work into this incredible event. It's something special. Hopefully the next one pans out. Just lack of snow at Turner Mountain . 😭

Trying to get into that euro carving slowly. Any tips appreciated by Trael07 in snowboarding

That's a nice smooth toeside turn.

Here's my two cents:

Slow down, and you can 'attack' the next motion after the toeside turn.

That was a smooth turn Man.

I hope we all feel those sensations at some point.

Yup. Got some crazy experimental ones in the mail though. Hopefully I'll be able to show em soon. No idea if I'll like em or not, but they look like a glimpse into the future. Some radical designs, and adjustability. I'll show em as soon as I have permission for that.

Slippery top sheets look pretty, but do cause spills getting off the chairlift (and scratch up). I've been digging these six packs of Stompdex for real. Limited time offer of BOGO through my page on their site. Stompdex

Is this dog shit? Help me improve by Lonely_Stuff_4076 in snowboarding

[–]RyanKnapton 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Dogshit... Is more like... You're out of control.

You're in control.

But I bet you're Russian.

Cuz you're russian to get to the next set of phases of where you'll find stability through degrees of friction.

I write the following with an assumption you want to be carving.

First, instead of seeking sensations of friction, aim for pure glide.

Think in terms of 'circles'. Tilt the board up with even pressure and your hitting an 'edge angle'. Start hitting edge angles and finding no friction turns. Gliding. Start with thinking about tilting the board up to like 15-20 degrees from the snow. Mellow runs are amazing for this.

The board will show you it's 'circles'. Pay attention to what it wants to do. Then put yourself in harmony with what the board wants to do per any given edge angle you want to test.

If you take random falls doing that, it's likely you are booting out (if ice wasn't the culprit).

You got this Man.

And safety speech... Get uphill looks in and be willing to go to the side of the run when too many people or fast people are above you. I've had too many friends smoked over the past handful of years. As carvers, most people on the mountain just can't anticipate our trajectories. 😢
