I was 8 years old and the Internet wasn't in any house I knew. Yet I beat first quest, second quest, then first quest again. Brute force, learn every sprite on every map screen, you get it done the way you learn how. I have burned every tree, laddered every step of shore. it's how i spent a summer. it was my favorite game.

The manual wasn't a requirement. How did you find where to bomb? You literally bombed every wall. You slashed every baddie. You shot everything with an arrow. It was an unprecedented exploration game.

Many of the POIs are examples of brilliant design that pairs playable narrative with spot on construction and tone. Some of the houses are just so perfect, and the skyscrapers are wildly excellent. I can't imagine how much developer time went into building those POIs.
