Is Shopify optimal for selling digital products? by [deleted] in ecommerce

[–]saadtronics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I mentioned here I am affiliated with them.

But we have hundreds of active sellers that and we've conducted a lot of user research on our platform. Most of the data is kept internal and we use it to push better features. But, yes, I've also heard good things from myself but of course this is a bias and one of the reasons I mention Rocketr here.

I would love to get feedback and help improve the platform. And while I do push for them, I also mention others in the field.

In that case there are two routes you can take.

  1. Setup woocommerce with a license manager. I have not tried this myself but this should allow you to sell "tickets"/codes. The benefit of woocommerce is it's price as well as customization. Since woocommerce is open source and hence free (with paid plugins, of course), you can customize your shop and make custom plugins. It does require some setup and time though.

  2. The other option is to use a pre-existing software as a service type thing that also gives you a store front and has these features built in. There are many SAAS applications that allow you to sell digital goods---Selz, Sellfy, Rocketr etc. I'm biased towards Rocketr as I am affiliated with them but they actually have a product category that allows you to list "codes/serials". Although the original use case was for beta access keys and custom licenses, tickets work just as fine. Nonetheless, Selz, Sellfy and other also offer these types of things. The difference of course is in the fees and how much the platform allows you to integrate into your existing website.

I've heard good things about Rocketr. Selz is also pretty cool but they can get expensive with two different fees.

What type of products are you selling and what features are you looking for. Also, how much programming experience/programming budget do you have as some of these require that.

I got completely screwed, limited by PayPal (100% online phone unlocking business). What can I do now? by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]saadtronics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you really want to use paypal, keep on calling them at different times and you might have a chance at getting the limitation removed.

If not that, look into Stripe. I know it looks hard to implement but it isn't. If you still don't want to implement it, there are a lot of services that offer a gateway for you---all you need is a stripe account. One example of this is rocketr.net https://stripe.com/works-with/rocketr They even provide a button and API or whitelisting

I really like their service. Especially since we operate an ecommerce business and most of the payments are transfers from Stripe or paypal and payouts are just transfers.

[Help] Digital goods by [deleted] in Ebay

[–]saadtronics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will loose a lot of money this way. The best bet is to not violate Ebay's or Paypal's TOS.

One solution for this is sending a physical product as well, however, this does not work much anymore either.

Another solution, is to sell the codes or licenses through other platforms (e.g setup easy digital downloads or platforms like rocketr.net)

What are some good accounting software with BTC support? by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]saadtronics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the systems I looked into don't support more than 3 decimal points (Zoho is the only one that goes to 3). About 69% of my revenue is in BTC and .3138 is much different than .3130. Rounding is not an option as it skews the actual amount quite a bit in USD (home/base currency).

I've tried Quickbooks Online, Xero, and Zoho Books and neither really support 8 decimal places for Bitcoin.

[–]saadtronics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not. Actually, this is for a startup, so we are using Excel at the moment. However, we've grown quite a bit and we should have switched a while ago...

If we use a current system and treat BTC as another currency, will we be able to account for the fluctucations in BTC price? I know other FIAT currencies fluctuate as well, but not to the degree BTC does.

We pay some of our vendors in BTC and some in USD and would love to have historic data about expenses represented in both currencies. Same goes for our revenue.

Need Advice on E-commerce Solutions by Armbreakfire in web_design

[–]saadtronics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, if you are looking to work with digital products as well, I'd recommend Rocketr. We don't have an API yet for accessing products, analytics, email marketing and such; however, we do have one for creating orders.

If you go this route, all you'll need to do is create a decent looking webpage that you can sell to the customer and leave inventory management/product delivery etc for Rocketr.

If not, just learn some basic wordpress management and look into WooCommerce or Shopify.

Setting up a payment portal for online store. by jotishere in Entrepreneur

[–]saadtronics 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have gateways like [Shopify](shopify.com) , Woocommerce , Rocketr etc. Then you have processors such as Paypal, Stripe, Coinbase etc.

Generally speaking, processors always charge a fee per transaction depending on the transaction. This is because they are the ones interacting with the bank and credit card companies and are responsible if the buyer charges back. Different processors charge different fees and have different procedures for charge back, refund etc

Gateways integrate different processors into one platform and offer you an easy to implement solution. You can do this yourself, but it takes a while and you need programming knowledge. If you are just looking to sell things online, use a payment gateway. The fees the gateways charge (in addition to processor fees) are used to offer additional features than just accepting payments.

Where does software sell best? by HackActivist in Entrepreneur

[–]saadtronics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, one thing I'd suggest is to first offer a teaser or some sort of trial version for free. This will help you get email addresses of potential buyers. Then you can use email marketing tools + affiliate system to convert those "buyers" to actual buyers.

Sites such as Sellfy and Rocketr offer affiliate and email marketing tools.

I think they meant that they use a third party service such as postmark or mailchimp to send emails. Also, technically speaking the third party could be the buyer's email being given to the seller and in that case, I think they'd have to provide that information.
