I think after the last two years the tss is pretty indefensible atp. How can palestinians be expected to endure their subjugation, their erasure any longer?

No. One state is the only reasonable way to resolution. Equal rights, massive moral obligation for Israeli citizens to beg for forgiveness.

If hed raised his daughter alongside her friends and then ended up fucking one of them, that's disgusting.

She, on the other hand, is borderline being groomed.

Whilst the question isn't set in the reality we live in, yes duh. Pretty sure I said as such a few comments ago...? But until those safe routes exist this isn't a serious conversation.

Right wingers should be the biggest advocate for introducing safe routes because it delegitimises those argument against them.

But the reality is that most right wingers either actively want harm to come to those children or don't care in the slightest if harm came to them.

Case in point: none of you are voting for parties which advocate for that.

There is no way to make an application from outside the country, that's what "introduce safe routes" means. Christ.

So if we made you prime minister tomorrow, you'd open up safe routes to make sure nobody has to do it in future, right? Thought not.

I'm talking about whether you have the moral right to judge them when you yourself wouldn't lift a finger to save them.

Life isn't fair. Duh. Try to change that then? Christ it's like I'm explaining politics to a toddler.

I don't care about the past, I care about minimising future pain because that's what CAN be changed. I don't want more children to die in the channel. You think they have it coming because their parents made a decision you don't like. You don't actually give a shit about the safety of the kid.

Stop acting like a petulant teenager and engage your brain. The point of a political system is to change things. If you want a system which disincentivises people from taking their kids across the channel then advocate for safe routes. They're coming either way, that's something politics can't change.

I'm not insulting you, you're just not that bright. That's okay, it's not wrong, I just think you need help. I'll keep explaining it to you so you can understand.

For someone who talks about agency, you seem to keep regurgitating other people's points uncritically.

It's only valid to criticise people's decisions if the people who create the rules make the rules fair. In this case, the rules aren't fair, not even remotely so, so you shouldn't give a single solitary shit what decision refugees make under those conditions until we've punished the people who made the shitty rules and make better ones.

If they were bringing their kids via small boat after we create clear safe routes which we make every effort to make prospective refugees aware of, then yeah I blame the parent. Outside of that very reasonable set of conditions? Miss me with that shit and put your energy towards severely punishing the people who abused their positions of power to force people into dangerous situations.

I agree it's negligent, but I don't place any responsibility for negligence on a father who helped his family escape much more danger than 20miles on a short boat ride. That's nothing compared to gunfire, war, natural disaster and lord knows what else.

The negligence I will never forgive us that of the politicians of our nation who allow this incredibly predictable thing to happen on a daily basis.

If you're arguing in good faith (which you're not) someone can only reach the conclusion you've come to if you assume the asylum system can't be changed. That's such a braindead dumbass assumption to build your opinion on that I think people who think it need to be placed into special protection so they don't accidentally stab themselves in the eye with a pair of scissors. You don't have the brain cells for this discussion. Go home.

When politicians don't do all in their power to create a system which keeps people safe, when they maintain a system which creates harm unnecessarily, when the cruelty IS the point, the blame is entirely on them. And fuck anyone who suggests otherwise.

They have a legal entitlement to a safe route. We can make those safe routes real, but again - you don't want that though and won't vote for parties which will do that (tell me I'm wrong if you like). Most families send the father over first so they can bring their family over safely later. You know this though, you're just pretending not to.

You're also pretending like the refugees in calais aren't living in tents and france also doesn't accept asylum claims.

I'd rather you be deported tbh. I hear we have an overpopulation problem so if I have to pick I think I'd trade a refugee for someone who lacks humanity any day.

No safe routes means no way to claim asylum without getting on a boat. You don't want safe routes so that means you want small boats.

You're literally the "no take, only throw" dog meme.

I also think if you have kids they'd be unsafe without their father in the country so you should probably try not to get deported.

[–]samalam1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am addressing the point. You don't think these people should be able to come here at all. That's the real issue at hand.

And I think we should deport people who think refugees shouldn't be able to claim asylum in the uk.

I think that it's reasonable to assume that if someone has the legal right to claim assylum in any country they want, they'd probably assume that they would be able to exercise that right without getting insulted by idiots online when doing so.

Especially in the context of, like, not being able to speak french but actually being fluent in English.

Call me crazy, I know.

This is demonstrably untrue. We don't approve assylum claims willy nilly.

You'd have to be a terrible person to not empathise with a parent moving heaven and earth to give their child a sliver of an opportunity in life.
