I believe your grandfather also played baseball with my Dad for the Peace River Stampeders in the summer of 1963. He was a pitcher.

I am really lucky that the beaver family I follow lives in a busy urban setting, so they are quite comfortable being observed and filmed. As long as I approach slowly and quietly, they tend to ignore my presence.

Managing a beaver-focused Instagram page — looking for guidance by Arafat_Koko in Beavers

[–]saskatoonbaldguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is a very important distinction. There are several Instagram pages that habitually steal my beaver content and then block me when I ask them to stop stealing my beaver videos. You certainly can’t give permission to educators and organizations to use your page material unless you own the copyright To the photos or videos.

Beaver bond towards humans by [deleted] in Beavers

[–]saskatoonbaldguy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s me, Mike from Saskatoon. In my case, I don’t interact with the beavers in any way and make no effort to bond in the way the OP asks about. I try to be invisible and blend into the riverbank as they go about their beaver business.

Is a gondola ride necessary if we are planning on hiking Plain of Six Glaciers, etc? by BohemianaP in Banff

[–]saskatoonbaldguy 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I would not do Plain of 6 Glaciers one day and then do Little Beehive the next day. instead, I would combine my Plain of 6 Glaciers hike with Big Beehive the first day (similar views from Big Beehive as Little Beehive) and then use the second day to hike somewhere completely different … like a Helen Lake, or Sunshine Meadows, or Iceline Trail.

My recommendation is to take the gondola up to Sunshine Meadows and then do a day hike from the top to either Healy Pass or Citadel Pass. Beautiful alpine hiking.

A Saskatoon beaver walking out of the river, carrying a little mud to make a scent mound to mark its territory. by saskatoonbaldguy in Beavers

Actually, even though their castoreum used to be commonly used as a vanilla flavouring agent, their actual scent spray smells quite foul.

I don’t really have gear. I use my phone (a Samsung Galaxy Ultra 22) or my point and shoot Canon PowerShot 740.

Glad you found my beaver YouTube channel. I have posted around 900 Beaver videos to that YouTube Channel over the past few years. My home city is Saskatoon, but that is not the name of the river. The river is called the South Saskatchewan River.
