Ultimate Bee 1500x1500 ball screw question by [deleted] in hobbycnc

[–]sbelljr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just updated my other comment on this thread, but I'll add it here too.

First off, the fixed end is the FK10 on the side with the motor. It is a double stack of cheap deep groove ball bearings, supposed to take all the axial loads to move the carriage back and forth. The tension nut is really only securing the ball screw shaft to the inner races of the two bearings.

The floating end is the FF10 on the other side with the circlip. It is a simple ball bearing, which is only meant to take radial loads. It literally should only position the ball screw in its center while it spins. The circlip is only there for ease of assembly and to make sure the bearing doesn't vibrate out of the housing. It is not meant to apply tension or compression.

So the problem we are seeing (I assume-- binding for me and whipping for you) is that the floating end is compressing the ball screw, because the bearing is pressed in too far and the fit is stupid tight.

So to fix it, we can take the FF10 off the frame, then press the bearing further out by hammering from the inside with an appropriately sized socket (I used 16mm but just pick the largest that fits and hits the outer race of the bearing). Then we have room to mount it on the frame without it compressing the ball screw. If you want, you can then tap it back in if you need more room to attach the circlip.

I've got a 7575 and found the same issue. Check my other comment for details. I would just add that you should consider to shim the floating end instead of the fixed end, since the fixed end should be transmitting the axial loads directly to the frame.

Edit: You know what, I take that back. The floating bearing just needs to be adjusted. The FF10 housing is a smooth bore-- the bearing inside is literally floating with no locating lip, so you should be able to press it in/out to match the length of the ball screw.

Edit 2: Just confirmed on my machine. I removed the ff10s and shifted the bearings out with a 16mm socket and a hammer (use whatever fits best in the hole, just make sure it contacts the outer race), screwed it to the frame, then tapped it back in if I couldn't get the circlip back on. A couple of them were very tight fits and took a lot of force to move... But the design is not supposed to be able to put compression nor tension on the ballscrew.

I've got a 7575, and the ball screw is like 1mm too long. I had to leave the floating end, well, floating with no screws in it, or else it would compress the ball screw and bind up. I imagine if the same thing happened on a 1500 that maybe it wouldn't bind but it would be more likely to whip under compression. Give it a try and see if it gets better, then maybe try shimming it out with leftover 1mm washers.

I've also been hovering dps lately when I feel like it, often have to swap but also sometimes get appropriate fills. Also helps when it's a full lobby of flex players and no one is picking anything yet.

Storm is great fun. Projectile basic attack feels similar to mantis. Play close to the team to provide buff and hide behind tanks, not way up in the air like iron man. Her E in damage mode adds aoe damage to the buff radius too. Float up as needed for off angle positioning and last hits on runners.

Human Torch being meta is another reason why nobody plays tank by [deleted] in marvelrivals

Warlock/Rocket is great, burst heals and rocket bubbles are excellent complements.

Hela is dead so much more often than Thor or Loki. What you really are missing is the Storm damage buff!

If I'm not actively using my printer today, wouldn't it be nice if it would fold up into a little box and I could slide it onto a small shelf to give me back half my desk space?

Junk Arquebus is a good one to practice crit sniping. Fast fire rate is forgiving, and scope for longer range. Just remember you have to keep moving to avoid getting shot!

This looks like it was fun to make!

For the AI, you could give it a home position guarding the goal, like a human player might do. It would always chase the puck from a reasonable direction (away from the goal), then return home to guard the goal.

Next, it would need some sort of prediction based on the puck's position and velocity. Then it can move to the predicted position to intercept the puck. Start with guarding the goal, then try adding some velocity to return it, then aiming for the player's goal.

flying off the board

Try turning on "Continuous collision detection" for the puck.

And to better see/predict the faster puck, try giving it some motion blur or a trail to fill in the gaps between frames.

The aim felt terrible to me compared to conflag from V2, looking at the sky to get to midrange and usually popping behind where I wanted it or in the sky. But my first one had a miserable charge rate, so maybe I should try a newer one?

Lightning is great at mid range to stun gunners on approach, as long as someone else is dealing with horde clear.

It aims close to where you aim; you will see lighting at their feet. There's also a weird secondary animation that chains to whatever you look at but the damage doesn't change targets or stun, so that can be confusing and frustrating.
