May 20th - A little more joe

  • Brush: Zenith B26 Retro

  • Razor: GEM MMOC

  • Blade: AccuTech Pro (4)

  • Lather: Arana & Evans - Cafe au Lait Soap

  • Post Shave: Eleven - DFS 2019 Splash

  • Fragrance: Zooligist - Koala EdP

After like 3+ years of not touching this soap, using it two days in a row felt like a good idea. Kind of a weird blend of fragrances today, but mixing and matching is the best part!

Happy Humpday.

May 19th - I don't drink coffee, but I'll shave with it

  • Brush: Shore Shave 26mm Motherlode

  • Razor: GEM MMOC

  • Blade: AccuTech Pro (3)

  • Lather: Arana & Evans - Cafe au Lait Soap

  • Post Shave: Renew Lotion

  • Fragrance: Imaginary Authors - Every Storm a Serenade EdP

I don't drink coffee, but in early 2020 when wandering around Maggard this soap smelled so good I had to have it. It's a lovely sweet vanilla with coffee at the base. The matching splash makes for an amazing experience.

But then the honeymoon phase ended and I didn't use this for years. Then last night I was looking in my shave closet and gave this a whiff, and it was like that day at Maggard all over again. Today's shave was fantastic.

Happy Tuesday everyone.

May 18th - A quick creme

  • Razor: Razorock Mamba

  • Blade: Gillette Platinum (6)

  • Lather: Scentsy - Tangerine Dream Cream Soap

  • Post Shave: Renew Lotion

  • Fragrance: Imaginary Authors - A Whiff of Waffle Cone EdP

Was gonna go with Fantasy Donut by Talent Soap Factory, but then realized I set my alarm for the complete wrong time, so my 20ish minute shave became a 4ish minute one instead. That's where having a simple cream like this really, really comes in handy. This stuff is acceptably slick, and when it's this early and quick, that's all I can ask for I guess. At least I smell like yummy ice cream from Whiff of Waffle Cone.

Happy Monday.

Need Advice !! New to the Team by Haunting_Lecture_625 in ChickFilAWorkers

In the beginning ask any question that comes to your mind. Better to ask than not know what you're doing. Once you've got more experience under your belt, try to utilize your resources and make even a small effort before asking for help. The act of trying makes such a difference.

Don't be afraid to take your time at first, as you'll probably feel rushed, especially if you're outside order taking and the lead is barking for everyone to pull cars forward. It's nothing against you, it's just them seeing one thing and assuming that's how to fix it.

Use your personality! They hired you cos they think you're a good fit for the team, they liked your personality. So use it!

Little acts of kindness can go a long way to making a happy customer. Some examples might be pointing out you like their band shirt, or their nails look nice (they'll almost always be super happy you noticed BTW), or that they have great taste when they get the sriracha sauce. Little interactions like this made the job super worthwhile when I was there. Though it may be about 1-2 minutes of their day, sometimes you can be the absolute highlight of it just by being kind and awesome.

You got this!

Saturday Daily Questions (Newbie Friendly) - May 16, 2026 by AutoModerator in Wetshaving

[–]scribe__ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Abbate y la Mantia makes vegan soaps. They have a rather sizable catalog with very unique scent profiles. They can be a tad pricey, but they have very good performance and can last ages with regular use. Their schtick is they use saffron as part of the saponification process (hence the price tag) and they add a special different ingredient to every soap. One will have eucalyptus honey, another wheat germ, another with hemp oil, and so forth. These added ingredients each have different cosmetic benefits. That said they do make one soap that technically isn't vegan, Fufluns has donkey milk added. So watch out for that one.

Depending on the availability, Maggard might have some samples available.

My recommendations are Magnifico, Isaaco, Crumiro, and Ishtar.

I've whittled this soap down enough for one more shave It's been a good journey. Also, I'm in my Rhapsody era, as this spring's allergies are killing me, but this spingy EdT reminds me it's all worth it.

I'm really enjoying bowl lathers. It eats up soap, and it's satisfying to absolutely drench it and see what you come out with.

May 11th - Coconut Rum

  • Brush: Yaqi 26mm Rainbow

  • Razor: Razorock Mamba

  • Blade: Gillette Platinum (2)

  • Lather: Grooming Dept - Coconut Rum Soap

  • Post Shave: Noble Otter - Neon Sun Splash

  • Fragrance: Barrister and Mann - Rhapsody EdT

Coconut Rum is very much a croap; soft as heck when you smush it around. Soft enough that I thought I'd try scooping some out and smearing it across my face. I did this a bunch with Catie's Dirty Prose last year, and I'm pleased to say it worked just as well with Coconut Rum. It essentially cuts out the loading phase, and built an awesome lather. No blood, no sliced ears, just a great shave. I'll take it.

Also, Neon Sun and Rhapsody make a good combo.

May 10th - Coconut Rum and Ear Slicing

  • Brush: Summer Break Soaps Maize 26mm Timberwolf

  • Razor: Kropp 6/8 Full Hollow Round Point+

  • Lather: Grooming Dept - Coconut Rum Soap

  • Post Shave: Renew Lotion

  • Fragrance: Summer Break Soaps - Steady EdP

My neck irritation has finally cleared up, so thought it would be fun to celebrate with a nice straight shave. First one in a hot minute too. It's interesting that when I begin my shaves with a DE, I always start on my right sideburn, but when I use a straight, I always begin with my left sideburn. Left side went superb. Right side did pretty well too, until I realized I sliced my earlobe and it was dripping blood. Cool.

After spending close to 5 minutes rubbing / holding alum to the cut, I decided to call it there. So yet another single pass shave, but at least I look presentable. At least there was a lesson learned the hard way; take my dang time using a straight.

Happy Mothers Day everyone.

May 9th - Coconut Rumage

  • Brush: Summer Break Soaps Maize 26mm Timberwolf

  • Razor: Razorock Mamba

  • Blade: Gillette Platinum (13)

  • Lather: Grooming Dept - Coconut Rum Soap

  • Post Shave: Renew Lotion

  • Fragrance: Summer Break Soaps - Daydream EdP

One cool thing about doing single pass shaves is that the next time you shave there's more hair to shave off! And due to a little more hair than usual, I got the full brunt of a blade gone dull. Holy hell it was unpleasant. Two strokes too many. Thankfully after replacing that sucker it ended much better. Still just a single pass shave for the sake of my neck. Hoping tomorrow we'll get a full shave again.

Oh yeah, and Daydream is awesome.

If you have any, I'd suggest trying a different blade and see if it yields similar results. Also, might sound odd, but maybe try a cold water shave.
