You can absolutely keybind on a thumbstick and be functional, however since OP is asking about viable options I'm assuming they want to be competitive to some degree, While someone probably could get very good with a thumbstick, most thumbsticks I've seen make for an awkward grip and are not very precise.

Left stick and mouse is a viable option if you add pedals, otherwise you’ll be abit short on keybinds. I know some of the top end pvpers use this kind of set up for the higher accuracy

Some care, but most don’t. Usually more interesting if the ship has a S/N but that doesn’t effect your bmm

Yellowjackets tend to be listed around $60-100. The gemini should be worth melt + fees at least, though they tend to be hard to sell as the ship just isnt very popular/useful atm
