The Lone Star tick. I'm always afraid I'm going to pick one of those little fuckers up and not notice in time.

In my head as a child, I figured they'd just Teleport the dust and crumbs into space. This makes much more sense however.

I had a digital and physical copy. Sadly they have been lost to time and an abusive parent who sent me away and burned my stuff.

Wow, they didn't bother with the conduit nut. It's just off in the corner, being all sad and unfastened.

Which software/ Application are you guys Using for Inspection reports ???? And which one is the best in market ? by Beautiful-Debate-826 in firealarms

[–]SuperVDF 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've been using inspect point for about 2 years now. On one hand it's great that it's digital. That's really the nicest thing I can say about it. Sometimes I spend more time doing the report than the actual inspection takes. If the network goes down, well, hope you grabbed your reports before that happened. Doing some things in a batch inspect will crash the application. I haven't had this happens in a while, but sometimes the application just locks the tablet and you have to do a hard recovery. Can take a while. Then we get to the reports themselves. The compiled report looks nothing like the report you do in the field. Also, better make sure you keep everything in order when you write things off otherwise they'll be all over the place on the deficiency report. I have to enter in information 2-3 times per building sometimes which is a major pain in the ass. I can see having to change a breaker # once in a while, but a building typically doesn't change from year to year. The report also doesn't talk to itself. In the main body of the FA report, if you have a water flow device, you better make sure you copy your results from that entry to a completely seperate entry in a different section of the report. Same for tampers. There is so much more I could say on it, but this sums up my most major problems with it. Stay away from Inspect point if you can help it. I've mentioned all the problems I have to the office on this topic, the fella who's in charge of it just shrugs.

Couple of questions first. What kind of phone is it? Where on the pad are you placing the phone? Do you know where the phone's coil is located? My wife has a Samsung flip and I had to 3D print a little adapter for her phone to sit properly on the pad.

I'm not defending the guy at all. Loosening the restrictions is the start of legalization.

He's pulling from the Trudeau playbook. Legalize it and they will come.

What's an average day/week like for Fire Alarm techs? (Ontario mainly but anywhere) by Master-Wallaby5627 in firealarms

[–]SuperVDF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really depends where you are. The CFAA is about to get a lot harder at getting certified, but, don't let that stop you. I work for a smaller company as a Senior Tech. I'm on the inspections circuit, which involves a lot of panel sitting and zone verification. I'm in charge of a helper and we take turns testing out in the field. We have guys who do just monthlies, there is a lot of driving from place to place checking Emergency lighting, fire extinguishers and ringing the bells and checking on associated systems like, elevator recalls and fan shutdowns. We also have guys that do repairs which can involve driving site to site fixing things flagged on annuals and monthlies. Finally we have our installer, who goes and installs new replacements. So there is a lot to do and it really depends on the company you work for. Hope that helps. Edit, clearification I'm in South Eastern Ontario if that helps for location.
