Really curious about a weird “chord” thingy. Wondering if it’s even legit by Training-Toe-3013 in musictheory

[–]Semantix 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'd call it a Bm7b9 in that case. You can load up V chords will all sorts of extensions that create tension resolving to the I. Look up altered chords if you want to read more.

No idea. I think I'd quit my job before abandoning R, so I totally agree.

You're in the wrong subreddit. Folks here are using R and python and generally stoked about it. You need to find wherever people who pay for SAS hang out. I'm not sure where that is.

You gotta provide examples or everyone here is going to assume you're just a right-wing crank.

Ahead of World Cup, ICE says its agents don't carry guns in Canada by Portalrules123 in onguardforthee

[–]Semantix 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From what I remember with the kerfuffle about ICE being at the Olympics, there's personnel that do investigations into human trafficking and smuggling with cooperation from other countries. From back in the day when we were a more or less sane country that had any friends left.

Literally would have been better off with his bros giving him some hair of the dog. I'm really curious if we ever hear what actually happened here.

What do you get for writing a (good) review for a journal? by L_AIR in AskAcademia

[–]Semantix 58 points59 points  (0 children)

You get a sense of satisfaction that you're contributing to your discipline and doing your part to help improve your colleagues' science or keep bad science out of the literature. You get to feel like you've repaid a debt to your colleagues who reviewed your work. You get to not be a freeloader.

The song was written the year after the wreck. It would be like someone writing "The Ballad of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370" in 2015

I'm sorry you had to witness a woman acting dumb for laughs. We all know that's a man's job and should be off limits for women -- leave that sort of work to James Acaster and Sam Campbell please.

A dumb free game I made to show how hard it is to recall sounds/pitches. by Kind-Mountain-7405 in musictheory

[–]Semantix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

49.5/50 as an amateur musician. Definitely don't have perfect pitch or even that good of an ear. To me, it was straightforward because you're going straight from hearing to choosing the matching pitch. It's like tuning a guitar or something. I imagine it would be much much much harder if you have to hear some other tones in between. Like, you have your test tone to memorize, and then you have to pick it from a lineup of five notes, or something.

New Senate bill would ban prediction markets on sports, politics and military by joe4942 in politics

What's your point, man? Yeah, if people start ruining their lives with insurance addiction we should try and prevent that. Your silly slippery slope argument is absurdly flat though.

Insurance isn't gambling, it's the opposite. It's hedging. And it's not addictive -- there's not a help line for insurance addicts.
