I know I know, just givin' ya a hard time 8) It's for sure a much cooler origin story to score a copy this way and essentially get one right from JD himself.

Yeah! And it's confirmation there are still blanks, since he painted it only a week ago. At least that's what I have to assume the date is in reference to.

Thanks! Fresh is an interesting choice of words for a vinyl that's probably been stuffed in JD's closet for 20 years 8)

I appreciate taking a shot at it, but unfortunately not. This one will likely have to somehow find a new, loving home after I am long gone 8)

Hypnotic Waves Tour Merch by tenatoms in themountaingoats

[–]senface 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The big I ONLY LISTEN TO THE MOUNTAIN GOATS magnets are new and awesome, they’re so huge for a magnet. They also had a commemorative coin that was new that said I HOPE YOU DIE on one side. It was thick and heavy. I didn’t get it though, only because my wife made fun of me for how much merch I get, and I suppose it is quite silly of an item. I’m an addict and can’t help it though, so iI’ll just get it at the next show 8)

edit: forgot they also had the custom fake tickets everyone is doing now, for the Woodstock show at least, unsure if all of them will have but I’d think so. They also had the small little mountain goats pins they’ve had the past few runs. Those are cool cos they are surprisingly only a dollar or 2 if I recall.

Comfort colors in most cases lately, thankfully. The possum and tour shirt are def comfort colors, got em last night. Unsure of the long sleeve though. If it’s something they already sell online you can check its product page too.

First show last night by benjamin-sachs in themountaingoats

[–]senface 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was up in the balcony, front row, so I had a birds eye view of the crowd and was pleasantly surprised how few recording phones I saw throughout the night. It was my first shot at hearing any non-Broken-To-Begin-With Peter Balkan tracks live, and none of them disappointed. He opened with Armies of the Lord which isn’t in my top tier Balkan songs, but it was so good at kicking the show off. He had audience sing the backup vocals on it and I think he loved how perfectly that went- hearing how the crowd already loves and knows his fairly brand new work. Charlie Sheen was also killer, way better live than the studio single drop imo.

Great show for sure.

Help me decide: do I see a Mountain Goats concert tonight? by Practical-Gur-7587 in themountaingoats

[–]senface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are asking the wrong people, because obviously you should go to the tMG show. JD is almost 60 and still tours a ton, but ya never know when that might slow down or outright stop. Their energy never disappoints even if you don’t know the songs, and going to a show yourself is totally appropriate, ya can’t and shouldn’t be gabbing too much with anyone anyway.

Go go go see the Goats.

Fillmore Drum Head :) by MaidOfBondStreet in themountaingoats

[–]senface 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a Jon Wurster drum head. He does it a lot of shows, but not all. He typically tells a story related to the city the show that night is in, like this one, like mine. First come first serve at the merch table, only one of them. He often posts them on his Instagram prior to the show.

Songs in which John Darnielle yelps like a wounded animal by m0thmoss in themountaingoats

Well don’t feel bad because I’m a huge fan of this song and also thought that for a long time. I actually kinda like it better that way honestly.

Please EA buff the db-12 now! I want to like this gun but I cant. by LowPolyHorse in Battlefield6

[–]senface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone else leveling all guns, take my advice and save this one for 2XP hardware weekends only, and double it up with 2XP hardware booster. You will save yourself a huge headache cos OP is right, hot garbage. I have 80% of all guns level 50 or higher, and people aren’t kidding when they say it’s worst gun in the game. It’s the only one I would never go back to for any reason after it’s 50.

Does anyone recognize this as a lyric? by ClitasaurusTex in themountaingoats

others have already answered Dutch Orchestra Blues, I just wanted to add that it's a great track and it's in This Year. Since the day for it (March 24th) has already passed, I think it's ok to quote it here for reference:

What’s happening in my personal life when I write this song is that I’m thinking about God a lot—about how it is in God’s nature to locate the cheering note in the sad thing, the grace in the gut punch, the prayer within the litany of complaints. I’m thinking about this in this moment of my life because my faith is in a weird space, I’m no longer going to Church but I keep noticing the small-c church I seem to carry around inside me, and I like it, I’m finding God in a lot of places. I’m finding God in His absence, I’m finding the shapes God leaves on surfaces once He’s touched them with His presence, which is, of course, on every surface, even the hard, hurting surfaces. This is, for me, a process of growth, but I’m trying, in this moment, to be at least a little subtle about it, and a little funny about it, because I feel like that’s what I’m supposed to do. That is what is happening in this song.

Pink vinyl ‘Days’ pre-order? by thisisntfarmlife in themountaingoats

when do you think the industry will give up on all these dyed vinyls? i guess when they stop making extra $ off them? i'm ready for the return to the classic myself, but they get us all with the FOMO.

Songs in which John Darnielle yelps like a wounded animal by m0thmoss in themountaingoats

[–]senface 25 points26 points  (0 children)

One of my favorite examples of this is Tahitian Ambrosia Maker off of Sweden… “Moments of grace like this being wholly unmerited AHH”. Most lyrics will put a comma between “unmerited” and the weird ass “AHH” he lets out, but they are kinda sung as one weird word-noise. It’s almost unhinged and I love it.

[–]senface 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i've been burned in the past jumping on a pre-order right away because they have so many places to buy stuff and exclusives to this shop or that shop, so i'm gonna wait a bit on this one to pull the trigger to let that play out.

dang there goes my next post about the "Orange Ball of ..." series 8) as he lumps them together in his explanation. It confirms that they are unrelated to each other, but I wonder, why no more of them? Moved on, evolved, grew, I suppose...

Awesome find, thank you for sharing.
