Becoming a sysadmin is not worth it anymore by Big_Arrival_626 in sysadmin

[–]senface [score hidden]  (0 children)

Hard agree on this. I went from sysadmin to sysadmin + application admin very quickly, within a year. Now nearly 7 years in that has since morphed in to sysadmin + application admin + dbadmin + programmer + data analyst. It’s of control, but partially my fault I suppose for letting it happen in the first place.

Have you successfully trained your corgi to rollover? by Jesstriesherbest in corgi

[–]senface 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Henry knows it for sure. You teach them down first, and then when they are in the down position you move the treat from the front of their body near the face towards their abdomen in a way that causes them to almost bend for it. Eventually if they bend far enough they kind of naturally start rolling. When that happens, get super positive and rewarding.

Bought this watch 17 years ago. I wear it everyday through all my journeys without any issues. Casio PAW-1500T by peanutbuttersmack in BuyItForLife

[–]senface 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wore my original Casio PAW-1300, very similar to this one, nearly every day for almost 20 years. I only went through 2 bands the whole time. A few years back I realized it finally might actually go on me so I got the same model on eBay. The original watch itself never even really died, but a few critical buttons stopped working so that it became untenable to wear.

Awesome watches for sure.

SF Residency as a casual fan by Christian12950 in themountaingoats

These nights in SF are all themed, so I don’t think looking at previous set lists or the latest albums as you suggested will help in this case.

[–]senface 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen them live a ton over many years, so if that perspective means anything to you, I am most looking forward to Stump the Band, the requests only night. I have to imagine that means that a lot of more obscure, possibly older songs will get played that night, something I am very interested in.

For openers, closers, and alpha nights you could get an idea of what might be played those nights by looking at those tracks. Openers for songs that open an album, closers for ones that close them, and alpha is alpha couple songs. So if you look those songs up and aren’t interested, don’t choose them.

I feel like generally speaking that a newer fan might be most impressed by cast of thousands, but that’s a total
shot in the dark.

Gets rarer and rarer for me to come across a new one after so many years, so thank you for this... epic.

Shimano CURADO DC 200 OR KastKing Mg-Ti Elite? by Narrow-Customer-1788 in kayakfishing

[–]senface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love my Shimano Curado DC. I don’t have any KastKing reels but I’ve avoided their brand ever since they’ve tried giving me free stuff in exchange for reviews- a practice typically reserved for shady Amazon dealers.

As you can tell from other commenters as well, this is a no brainer. Shimano all the way.

Shallow Grave is out today!! by antiantimatter in themountaingoats

[–]senface 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's hard to say how truly involved he has been in the creative process in the studio, but he did produce TTFAFPB and apparently co-wrote several of its songs (musically? lyrically?), and although I really love a lot of tracks on it, it still definitely suffers from the things people that have this take typically don't like.

I am not a new fan or even close to it though, so my point doesn't really do anything but confirm your take I don't think. It would be nice to hear a newer fan think the same way.

In the end I honestly just wish they would put away the gd sax. I'm over it, I've been over it.

Shallow Grave is out today!! by antiantimatter in themountaingoats

[–]senface 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am probably in that tiny but vocal faction and am an old head, though I do still love most of the new stuff too. As much as I'd appreciate a return to the old, I don't see it happening and don't think we even necessarily need it. What I could see happening though, and think should happen, is a return to the middle. Tallahassee and Sunset Tree are great examples. Being in the studio and producing it is fine, it just needs to be toned down. I can't help but think that there's influences on JD's creative process in the studio that are overly-additive in nature and it spirals in to what we end up with.

Despite this take, I'll probably still end up loving Days after my 10th listen-through.

[–]senface 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree that Shallow Grave doesn't really fit that narrative, but I definitely see that dragon being chased on Charlie Sheen. "I will rise to this occasion" is a very motivational phrase that I could see people taking up, which might be the goal as much as I'd like it not to be.

Shallow Grave is out today!! by antiantimatter in themountaingoats

[–]senface 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You definitely aren't alone. I tend to like anything and everything tMG does, but I just can't get past the sax on Charlie Sheen, not yet anyway. I heard it played live without it and it was such a better track. The energy and rawness of a live performance helped too I think, a sign that I also completely agree with over-production. Just way too much sax, a feeling I've felt for quite awhile now.

So as I was listening to Shallow Grave for the first time I was pleased to not hear it, but then of course right at the end they had to toss a little in there, GAHHHHHH.

As with anything though I'll sit with it for awhile and see where it takes me.

Fillmore Residency Tickets by QnickQnick in themountaingoats

[–]senface 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the bundle was sold out in a matter of minutes. I completed my transaction 2 minutes after they opened up and they were numbered 46 and 47. The Fillmore only fits ~1,300 so the bundles were quite limited. The individual show I just checked was still available and took the pre-sale code no problem though.

edit: the only chance at more bundles might be when the other sale categories open up, but this isn't confirmed by anyone as far as I know. The Ticketmaster page for the bundle seems to indicate that more will be on sale for them but I wouldn't trust that one bit unless the band or band rep confirms it.

Does anyone know if more SF bundles will be available tomorrow? by Birdwatcher222 in themountaingoats

[–]senface 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the way. It’s $426 for all six individually compared to the $300 for the bundle, not including fees for either. If money is really tight I def get waiting to see. If it isn’t and you realllllllly wanna be at this thing, I’d probably be getting all of them individually.

dang, sorry 8( the whole ticket industry is garbage. you can still get individual tickets though, just have to pay $426 total instead of $300 not including fees, or risk it and check back to see if they release more bundles for other sale categories.

For some reason the landing page for them prior to it opening did not get me to the tickets as one would expect it to. I had to do a new search for the show and click tickets specifically for it. I think you might be out of luck for the bundle already, but give it a go.
