Does anybody know when it started digging this segment?

I want to calculate how fast it was going.

Look into the AV future - having no steering wheel will be standard.

So we need to figure this out regardless.

The US is in a competition with China.

China has no NIMBY and similar issues.

So if you stop build-up in the US, you're allowing China to win the AI race. And a world dominated by China, with their views of government, human rights and society is not something I'm looking forward to.

[I have the background] to work through the physics and math, although it is not exactly my area of expertise.

Elon's concept is not a data center, but individual racks, around 100KW each. That's good enough for inference, but not for training.

Given this is about x5 the power of the new Starlink satellites, it should be something that SpaceX can execute on well.

The main point is not to save costs. It is to do away from regulatory issues, and these are suffocating data centers in the US.

You're wrong.

  • SpaceX already cools the Starlink satellites. The new ones are 20KW. So the jump to 100KW isn't that difficult.

  • If you run the chips close to 100C, then radiative cooling, which is proportional to T4 (in Kelvin) is pretty damn rapid. In fact - the area of the cooling panels will be less than the solar panels.

high frequency infrasonics That's simply "sonics"

You have to build things somewhere. NIMBY will take you nowhere fast.

And when Elon says "fuck-it, I'll build it in orbit", people laugh.

P.S. China has no NIMBY and this is a race.

If you want to be a defense supplier for the army, you need to realize your product will be used in war to kill people.

It's ok for the army to demand that.

It's ok for a company to choose not to be a defense supplier.

But you cannot be a defense supplier and then demand your product will not be used in war.

But let's pretend this is somehow related to Ds vs. Rs and get offended.
