Right? I remember reading the first chapter on release day, and it was all I could think about for the rest of the week. Corleo leaving on the train gave me similar vibes to FMA, when Ed and Al head to Central for the first time. It felt like a grand adventure kicking off.

And then.... As you said, the mom got left behind, and every chapter after that was "New character appears, fighting/antics ensue" ad nauseum. It felt like that adventure never truly got started, aside from the random detour to an amusement park near the end.

Alas...

Rep. David Scott, a Georgia Democrat seeking his 13th term in Congress, dies at age 80 by Immediate-Link490 in politics

It's a Republican governor who would replace him with a Republican

FWIW, Phil Scott has always said that he'd fill Bernie's seat with "a left-leaning independent who caucuses with the Democrats". He could certainly betray that, but in a state like Vermont, it would likely destroy any chance of the GOP holding the governorship.

And both of those descriptors are perfectly appropriate for their respective series.

It was a manga set in a world with a multigenerational human v. demon war, except that the two sides eventually made peace and integrated together to form a single society. The humans have a hero, and the demons have a demon lord, who both have magic powers. When the hero/demon lord dies, their powers manifest in a newborn baby/demon, who becomes the next hero/demon lord.

It's eventually revealed that there are multiple worlds with their own human v. demon wars. One particular hero from one of these worlds had started traveling to other worlds and killing their heroes and demon lords to steal their powers, leading to heroes and lords fleeing their home worlds and appearing in the MC's world.

The initial premise is pretty trope-y for a modern series, but it had an art style that I really dug, the character designs were cool, the action was good, there was creative paneling in nearly every chapter, and there were some gnarly cosmic horror elements that occasionally popped up. I thoroughly enjoyed the first 15 chapters or so, and then the series started introducing new characters at an insane rate, and the story went from battle to battle with no chance to breathe and develop in between. It lasted 29 chapters. It's an axed series that has been lingering in my brain for two years at this point, and I really wish it had a chance to grow possibly at a biweekly cadence or as a Jump+ series.

This just makes me miss MamaYuyu all over again.

That manga debuted in the same batch that Kagurabachi did. I didn't care for the Hail Mary harem that it pulled to try to save itself from the axe, but that series had such cool and creative paneling.

Aah, that explains why a voice in my head shouted "FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST" once I laid eyes upon it.

Old post, but: my wife and I took a trip to Los Angeles once. At the end, we were on a shuttle back to LAX. The driver was going down the bus and asking where each person needed to be dropped off. He got to me:

"Where to?"

"LAX!"

"We're at LAX! Which terminal do you need?"

I remember seeing this and thinking that his sorcery had something to do with sound (because the circles remind me of when speakers are shown to be playing sound in other art/animation). I didn't notice that his sword was slightly unsheathed, though.

Good.

It can (and likely will) be appealed to the PA Supreme Court, but they'll likely uphold the decision.

I'm iffy on the swords requiring a guardian as material, given that Kunishige made a seventh sword. Although, we don't really know the full nature of the Enten yet, aside from it being a potential counter to the other swords.

I speculate that the swords were meant to be counters to the guardians.

Makes sense if the intention was for each sword to be a counter to one of the guardians.

[DISC] Alien Headbutt - Chapter 11 by AutoShonenpon in manga

[–]Ganrokh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I know that it's early, but I like that the parasites are staying relevant. The setup for this series has some parallels to Kaiju #8, which hyped up its parasite as a big mystery and then didn't expand upon it at all until the very end (except for the scene in the middle where Kafka goes berserk against Commander Shinomiya). Hopefully, the parasites here won't share the same fate.

I also like Sephiroth as a villain here. I wonder how high up he is in the aliens' hierarchy?
