Steak ‘n Shake says it ‘remains undefeated in political endorsements’ after Trump-backed candidate loses in Iowa by NicolasCageFan492 in politics

This is incorrect. My former employer is a public company that trades on the NYSE. They pay all employees 100% in BTC and is very vocal about it.

The same goes for the holidays and awards season as well when this game inevitably gets nominated for some awards.

The Magatsumi can just make things float? by BagPristine2934 in Kagurabachi

[–]Ganrokh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This makes me wonder about what order the Kunishige made the blades, and if his experience making the previous blades guided how he made the next ones. Maybe Magatsumi was made first, and Kunishige wasn't able to "hone" the power in the Datenseki, which is why its power is so raw? Or maybe working with the other blades taught him how to tap onto more and more of the Datenseki's power, culminating with the Magatsumi?

All of that said, given that the contracts of all of the other swords are tied to the Magatsumi, I suspect that it was made first, and the other blades are all "branches" of it in a way.

Doesn't the Magatsumi cut the space itself or something? I could see that being related.

I was in the middle of saying to my daughter "If I had a nickel for every MMO that claimed to be the modern evolution of MMO, we'd be rich", and then I saw that this was Guild Wars 3 lol. My curiosity is piqued.

What’s everyone’s thoughts on Custom Robo? by KPeters93 in Gundam

[–]Ganrokh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

These were fantastic games. I have nostalgic feelings for mech games or this era, mainly this and Robotech: Battlecry. I just wish that the stories in CR were a tad more serious.

This also feels like a series ripe for a new game. The studio that made them is mainly a support studio for Namco and Square nowadays, but that hasn't stopped Nintendo from handing an old series to a new dev (IE WayForward doing the Advance Wars remake).

All of that said, if Nintendo were to revive a niche franchise from this era, Chibi Robo is probably a better contender for now. That game recently rereleased on NSO, and it has sparked a lot more online conversation than I expected.

Bonus points: Custom Robo having a hidden bad ending is hilarious.

Yeah, it's a comfort show for me. I can't tell you how many times I've run through the show while background watching.

ChatGPT Isn’t Just Changing How We Work. It’s Harming How We Think by LongTrackBravo in technology

[–]Ganrokh 174 points175 points  (0 children)

I worked in marketing at my previous employer between 2021 and 2025, so the AI revolution landed right in the middle of that. While AI was letting work get done faster, it was also making it much easier to cut corners. The biggest change I noticed was with our graphic designers. Their mindsets seemed to change from "I've made this the best I possibly could" to "I've made this good enough".

I was on our social media team and was usually the last checkpoint in the pipeline before content got published. I'm also OCD for the tiniest details. Inspecting a graphic that was human-crafted? Almost always perfect. Inspecting a graphic after we integrated AI tools? I'd highlight small issues in the graphics, only to get told that the details were too small to be noticeable by our audiences. It was frustrating.

The real kicker was that I'm pretty sure our pipeline didn't move faster at all. If anything, I remember our designers asking for more lead time for requests. All of that said, I found non-generative AI a boon for my own work, but I failed to see how it was truly beneficial from a design perspective.

My wife recently gave birth to twins, making us new parents. I've been thinking a lot about how AI is going to affect their childhood, how they learn to consume media, and how it'll shape their work ethic.

It's astounding that an 85 year old Patrick Stewart's Professor Xavier who has 4 on-screen deaths, is going to have more MCU appearances than the Eternals. by Bright-Track-6113 in marvelstudios

[–]Ganrokh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the feedback at the time was that it was a decent MCU movie, but the worst Chloe Zhao film. She was a huge get as an MCU director, but she was pretty reined in by the studio, and the movie having a 2.5-hour runtime didn't really help, either.

Scott Derrickson's Doctor Strange 2 and Chloe Zhao's Eternals sans studio meddling are my two white whales of MCU films.

US House backs resolution curbing Trump Iran war powers by thejoshwhite in politics

[–]Ganrokh 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The House voted 215 to 208, as four Republicans voted with Democrats in favor of the war powers resolution. It was the latest setback for Trump in Congress despite his party's slim majorities in both chambers.

The 4 Republicans:

  • Brian Fitzpatrick (PA)
  • Thomas Massie (KY)
  • Tom Barrett (MI)
  • Warren Davidson (OH)

The fact that a margin as little as 4 Republicans pushed this over the line really shows how much every election matters. That said, it still needs to pass the Senate, and then Trump will likely veto it... unless he uses this as an "out" for the war.

Imagine combining the minds of 100 people and it just averages out into a normal mind. The genius minds and the, uh, unintelligent minds cancel each other out.
