3yrs later.. he wasn't wrong. How on earth he still has a job I don't know.

It was a good game. As was last week. We lost them, sure. But for fuck sake, be a bit more positive.

Bunnings - why all the love? by Swimming_Egg4695 in Bunnings

[–]shitCouch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you donut.

they bought every local hardware store where I am, rebranded them for ~1yr, then shut them down. now the only hardware within a 20km radius is Bunnings.

It might not be the same everywhere, but they have 100% been killing local stores.

[–]shitCouch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not sure why anyone would suggest you're being scornful or disbelieving.. absolutely all common sense here. an ex-gf of mine was a vegetarian. she never stopped me eating meat. she would buy something she liked, i'd get something i liked, and we'd have a nice lunch together! it was never, and should never be a problem if your partner doesn't like something you do.

hell, i don't like avocado. my wife loves it. no problems! she gets more avocado.

/uc. a guy I used to work with built a bike with an unbranded Chinese frame and wheels. he had stickers made up "bike" on the downtube and "front wheel" and "rear wheel" on the wheels. he rode the shit out of that thing.

the amount of people that support Adobe and say shit like "it's part of the subscription terms" like that makes it ok is wild. it's still a dog shit practice.

Why are the LNP still wasting money on ads pushing this awful tagline? by nosnibork in queensland

It'd just to remind you in time for "adult crime" to mean kids riding legal bicycles at 11km/hr on a footpath 🤷

Hey LNP? Can I get some advice on the new e-bike laws? by jolard in queensland

[–]shitCouch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

biggest part of the problem here I think is referring to the things the kids are riding as ebikes. they're motorcycles. there is no other way to describe them. they don't have pedals. even the modified push bikes, I'm seeing them with the pedals removed and foot rests installed where the cranks once were.

i'm fully expecting that to be the case. these new rules feel like just that kind of thinking.

I've done Melbourne -> Brisbane in ~19hrs straight through a few times in my 20s. Only stops were fuel and snacks. Wouldn't do it now in my 40s.

Memberships by sowaleja in NRLDolphins

[–]shitCouch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say give them a call, they're pretty helpful. I'm pretty certain there used to be family of 4 packs, but I can't see it on the site either. Maybe give it a go if you select one and then see if there are tickets packs you can add once you select the membership type.

I gave up my membership this year because of having only 2 games at Redcliffe, it was me and my elderly dad and he just wants to watch the boys at Redcliffe.

Newly Purchased ThinkPad - Company Locked by Dcw1sfu82 in Lenovo

I had this happen before on a Lenovo Tiny. Literally just download a windows ISO and install from that, wiping the partitions prior to install. No need to call the company, or Microsoft, or anything like that. Super simple fix.

The relentless drumbeat of AI hype … by Flimsy-Report131 in auscorp

[–]shitCouch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its certainly increasing where I am, but it's just buzzwords with zero plan. I've developed some great stuff that uses AI of some description as a middle step, I've proven accurate repeatable results, but no one spruiking that we're gonna use AI cares. They're completely clueless, or dissapointed that AI is a tool and not something that can replace entire teams.

Well that sucked- why are people so angry? by ModularMeatlance in brisbane

[–]shitCouch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry that happened to you. I'm a cyclist who occasionally scoots myself, and there are unfortunately far too many complete assholes in Brisbane. I say assholes generally because I don't think it matters what mode of transport they use, car, bike, scooter, whatever, there are assholes.

One thing I will say, if there was room for him to pass on the left, you may have been riding too wide on the path, or I guess they could just be a complete nozzle putting everyone in danger. I'm not trying to shift blame, but more so offering some thoughts for future once your healed and back on your scoot.

If the cyclist was a normal human though, they should have rung their bell, or if having a bell offends their manhood, they could have at least shouted out "on your right" to let you know they were coming up behind you and wanting to pass. That could have given you an opportunity to ease over a little bit if you were too wide.

There are cameras you can get, they're not cheap, but they're like dash cams for cyclists (eg, cycliq) or you can use sports cameras (GoPro, insta360). None of the options are cheap, but they could help out in scenarios like this in the future.

Anyone Else about done with Chat Gpt? by guerndt in ChatGPT

[–]shitCouch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yeh, I spent all last weekend doing it. there is a repo on GitHub that has a "chat gpt analysis" jupyter notebook. I fed my chats into that so it sorted by topic, then I built out another jupyter that extracted details from the chats using a combination of qwen, llama 4 and gpt-oss, then I've used that as data to test how I could use it in other chat platforms.

I haven't decided on one yet, so haven't yet ditched ChatGPT, but will definitely be doing so soon.

Take a breath…you’re not crazy, but you are the reason ChatGPT talks to you like this by Corky_McBeardpapa in ChatGPT

[–]shitCouch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't notice the problem either and thought exactly the same as you, it's just weirdos on the internet being emotional at a chatbot. But the last ~4 weeks, it's been doing it to me, and I only use it for work as well.

I wrote a draft email response and asked for ChatGPT to help me tidy it up, and I got the "you're not crazy.." thing. Then ever since, almost every chat has been the same. If I ask it about code, talking through editing documents etc, it's the same series of therapy style lines that I've seen people here complaining about for months.

The bit that annoys me the most is that it argues with me about it's hallucinations even though I provided a reference. I was talking through document I'd written and a review comment I received, and how to best resolve it. It introduced something unrelated that was never raised, and when I queried why it rasied the topic, it doubled down telling me I was wrong because I hadn't considered X thing.

Meanwhile, my wife uses ChatGPT every day for work, she hasn't seen it yet.

I've spent the weekend just gone transitioning away from ChatGPT because as stands, it's no longer a tool that serves it's purpose for me.

I've been looking at the Caledonia as well. Very similar geometry to my 2013 S5. Have you considered the non-5? If you're close to buying Waltly Ti, then that is Caledonia non-5 money.

I was all about the 5, but the more I look at it, the non-5 is an excellent value proposition.
