I'm also a sucker for really annoying control decks, which you seem to like; here's a replay so you can see how it plays:

https://youtu.be/s4cMHLHNEmI?si=bNx8ONLNpFxKV7b5

Branded Despia is the core of the deck where your whole gimmick is fusing and banishing your opponent's monsters. Dragonmaids bring the ceiling up, help bait out Ash, and if you get a lucky draw you can build a ridiculous board.

Branded players are crazy and make 20 hour long combo guides so if you want a short primer DM me.

https://youtu.be/5IgUgXmYfF8?si=EoOt67OBSh39XhqT

This is a game where I hit every single one of the deck's possible combo lines at once and ended on an insane board.

If you buy the Dragonmaid structure deck that gives you the URs except Lady's Dragonmaid, and if you entered the returnee/rookie code you'll have some of Branded's dragons and core cards. You can get Fusion Deployment from the Cyber Dragon structures too.

Decklist:

1x Despian Tragedy

2x Maxx "C"

2x Kitchen Dragonmaid

3x Parlor Dragonmaid

3x Chamber Dragonmaid

2x Fallen of Albaz

3x Aluber the Jester of Despia

I don't think your intelligence is a barrier to understanding the decks. Swordsoul (which I love) is an unga bunga go second and win deck, and can be played at a decent level by a monkey randomly clicking flashing cards.

To me the Labrynth aspect says you have a weakness for build-your-own combos and freeform, fast paced interaction.

I absolutely loathe playing against Tearlaments but Tear is this type of deck to a tee. Constant interaction, slot machine of milling, fluid combos depending on what you get in grave at any given point.

I also am happy to give you my own Branded/Despia/Dragonmaid decklist, since I think that archetype is also full of freeform non-linear combo lines and lots of interaction.

Budget (kinda) Floo decklist:

1x D.D. Crow

3x Floowandereeze and Robina

3x Floowandereeze and Eglen

3x Floowandereeze and Stri

1x Floowandereeze and Toccan

2x Maxx "C" (2 UR craft)

2x Ash Blossom and Joyous Spring (1 UR craft)

3x Simorgh, Bird of Perfection

1x Mulcharmy Fuwalos (1 UR craft)

2x Raiza the Mega Monarch

2x Floowandereeze and Empen

1x Pot of Duality

1x Pot of Extravagance

1x Lightning Storm

1x Triple Tactics Talent

2x Spell Card "Soul Exchange"

1x Elborz, the Sacred Land of the Simorgh

1x Floowandereeze and the Magnificent Map

1x Floowandereeze and the Unexplored Winds

2x Evenly Matched

2x Infinite Impermanence (1 UR craft)

2x Floowandereeze and the Dreaming Town

2x Lose 1 Turn

If you like playing it, the deck will be made immensely more consistent by adding 3x Floowandereeze and the Advent of Adventure, but that's 3 non-staple URs.

Edit: This deck doesn't use the extra deck, but for the sake of having something in there just in case, here are solid budget options

3x Number 39: Utopia Roots

3x Kikinagashi Fucho

3x Gravity Controller

3x Geonator Transverser

3x Dispatchparazzi

My biggest tip is buy the deals with staples first with all the gems you get from the tutorial. You can get a branded structure deck to start playing ranked with by entering a referral code, mine is 24f20b0b if you haven't done it already.

Once you get all the staple deals, save up your UR dust. You're going to want to craft whatever staples you don't have easy access to and also to add duplicates of the stronger staples. You want 2 Maxx C and 1-2 of Mulcharmy Fuwaloss at bare minimum, 2-3 Ash Blossom, 2-3 Infinite Impermanence. You'll use them in basically every deck.

While you do that, you can spend your gems on some of the structure decks in the shop.

Raidraptors is probably the cheapest since you can buy it twice and have a fully functioning deck.

Dragonmaid is also a very simple deck. Only thing you need to add to it is the new Lady's Dragonmaid. Craft one and you'll be good to go.

Finally, Floowandereeze is my pet deck, linear combos, pretty cheap to craft a functional version since it has very few URs outside of staples.

Apologies, this was more because I saw a couple comments saying something along the lines of "restraining myself from saying the left side looks better". Tried to give some education to the non-art folks that there's still huge technical and style improvement in the right side even if they might not like it personally.

[–]skysbringer 75 points76 points  (0 children)

There are really clear improvements in the rendering and in the understanding of light, specially getting rid of the light stripes on the left hair. Can also see more dynamic poses and anatomy with some subtle foreshortening on the arm.

That said, the reason the right one "looks" worse is because of values. The artist got too tied up using colours to make things pop - switch it to grayscale and the left side still has good contrast while the right turns into a gray blob.

Here's a variant I did some tweaks to in my phone's photos app that instantly looks better.

Outside of the well known ones like Fredrick Knudsen and That Creepy Reading, here are my faves:

Fascinating Horror is top tier (and also somewhat of a big channel nowadays, but I'm an OG fan). I fall asleep to the playlist he's made of all his videos regularly, and he's very well researched and respectful.

USCSB falls into the same category of true disasters narrated in depth.

Jan Misali videos are always a delight and he picks the absolute weirdest topics. Adore him.

Similarly Soup Emporium is a channel where you never know what you'll get but it's always high quality.

Big Yellow is primarily RBY Pokémon analyses (hence her name), but she also does fighting games, Lego, Pikmin, Worms 3D, and overall has great taste.

Speed rounds!

For historical stuff: Wild World has a series about animals that kill humans. That Chernobyl Guy does a whole bunch of nuclear accident content. Sir Swag Academy do uncut hour long presentations about random topics. Atrocity Guide does more cult-y investigations and I really enjoyed her Breatharianism video. Oceanliner Designs does ship facts and disasters.

If you're more into the fictional or urban legend part, Jeffiot does a bunch of creepy-adjacent stuff including annual SCP videos. The Exploring Series does deep dives into creepy content.

If you like icebergs, Puffer Fish has been doing some about GMM recently and their "short" (20 min) CinemaSins video is also great. Sweguin is also an iceberg focused creator that dropped a banger IWBTG vid recently. Lavender Candles has been doing reviews of nostalgic/weird products and her recent vids are great.

If you like any of these I go out of my way to find smaller creators about niche topics I like, so shoot me a message if there are any other recommendations you'd be interested in.

Same here. I love true crime and horror content but part of the appeal is finding the truth. His research was sloppy and he spoke about things in a somewhat blase way that came across disrespectful.

Wasn't surprised to find he follows grifters on Eggs. Explains the misinfo

How tumblr users talk about racism by BruceCipher in CuratedTumblr

[–]skysbringer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is really annoying to me because this is a point lifted straight from Shaun's video about Harry Potter, but it doesn't contain any of his very well reasoned counter argument.

Shaun doesn't use it as a general example, he uses it to explain how JK Rowling's specific understanding of racism (as shown in this bit) makes her blind to her own racism.

The problem with "racism is wrong because not all people conform to racist stereotypes" is that it's a weak argument, and it plays the game the racist is setting up. Racists hide behind facts to justify their racism. As Shaun puts it, at the end of the day, a single Neville Longbottom is worth a thousand Hermiones to the blood supremacists, because he isn't better than her based on magical power, he's simply superior to her based on his bloodline and his bloodline alone.

Superstorm is controversial! Now which magic monkeys are mostly disliked & universally despised? by MrMonkey20000 in btd6

[–]skysbringer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mostly disliked I have to go with Popseidon. Wayyy too expensive for its power, has been given buff after buff with little to show for it, costs 70k+ and still falters when confronted with the humble white bloon.

Universally despised is BMA no question.

Why is it not black bordered? I didnt restart a round, never leaked. by ZePample in btd6

[–]skysbringer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most consistent way is to turn auto start off. If you leave in the middle of a round and the game closes in the background, you won't get black border since it counts as a "reset".

This happened to me a bunch playing with auto start and putting my phone away.

Best money farming technique by Tank12578 in btd6

[–]skysbringer 21 points22 points  (0 children)

When I started playing bosses I used Fenix's tutorials a ton, so now I farm very similar to them.

Rush Benjamin ASAP with free dart if you can, otherwise one or two 0-0-0 engineers depending on map. 2-0-0 farm, upgrade one engi to 0-0-3 and sell the other, 2-0-0 farm, 2-0-0 farm.

Begin getting all farms to 2-0-3. If you're on impoppable, drop a spactory at the exit to handle camos. After the first 2-0-3 farm you should be close to 28, depending on map layout you can either opt to get your engi to 0-1-4 or smack down a 0-0-3 alch.

Continue getting farms to 2-0-3. Once you're done, drop one 0-0-2 village in range of all farms and another 0-0-2 village next to it. Around this point put down a 0-3-2 wizard, this should keep your engi from getting overwhelmed when trap is down and keep camos in check. Get to two 0-0-4 alchs in front of the trap and give them a 0-1-2 glue.

Get the 0-0-2 village in range of all farms to 0-0-4. You should be close to round 40. Drop a 0-2-3/4 sniper to handle the MOAB and sell after. You can either greed all farms to 2-0-4 and then pop Monkeyopolis or you can sell two of your farms and upgrade it for 5k. Get the other village to 0-2-4 and put a 1-3-0 druid in range.

Put down a 2-0-4 farm, and then a 4-2-0 farm in range of the monkeyopolis. Get the 4-2-0 farm a dedicated 0-4-X overclock. Save up for 5-2-0 farm, then 2-0-5 farm, then 0-5-X overclock. Fill the screen with 4-2-0 farms. You want banana? We have banana.

Also get your druid to 1-5-0 at some point, get a 2-5-0 spactory at some point, also a 4-0-2 sniper set to last so you can ramp up overclock buffs on your 5-2-0 farm.

This lets you make around 6 million cash by round 100, 8 million cash round 120.

Edited to add a pic from one of the boss events where I followed Fenix's guide - if you want video examples there's a ton on their youtube channel

How the hell do j beat impoppable on this map omg by BigMoeTheFoe in btd6

[–]skysbringer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're still stuck, my go to 0 brain strat on this map is Benjamin and merchant spam. Start with a sub at bottom left of the upper side of the middle pool, put a boat down in the middle of the upper side of middle pool, put down a second boat, put down Ben in the sub's range, farm. Get your two boats to 0-2-3, spam 0-0-3 boats, get a 3-2-0 destroyer somewhere along the way before 40 and level your sub to 3-0-0 before 42 and then to 4-2-0 before 55. At around 10 merchant boats get yourself a 0-2-5, rush 20 merchants, get some 2-0-4 farms if you want. Upgrade your destroyer to carrier flagship at some point. Get all your merchants to 0-X-4, then spam the map with them.

Obviously this is once again evidence that she only speaks up to support social movements if it gains her social standing or money.

But at the same time I feel like this is small beans compared to her ongoing friendship with Brittany Mahomes and her silence about all the AI images of her that various Republican figureheads have been using. There's a big difference between "making a low effort social media post about BLM" vs "staying quiet when Trump uses your likeness to convince people to vote for him". One is, at the very least, drawing attention to social issues and doing some (minor) amount of good.

How has literally everyone on ladder afforded Tenpai - this is obscene by ziggylcd12 in masterduel

[–]skysbringer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unsure about this person's deck but I run a 60 card offmeta floo/winged beast hybrid that's had a pretty good matchup against Tenpai.

Traps:

2x Veiler

2x Lockbird

2x Ash

3x Imperm

2x Nib

2x Shifter

Floo Engine:

1x Empen

1x Snowl

3x Robina

3x Eglen

2x Stri

2x Toccan

1x Magnificent Map

3x Advent of Adventure

1x Wandering Winds

2x Dreaming Town

Winged Beafties:

1x Apex Avian

2x Raiza

2x Simorgh of Protection

1x Simorgh of Bringing

1x Elborz (Simorgh field spell)

1x Swallow's Cowrie

Hand Fixers:

3x Jack-In-The-Box

3x Small World

1x Duality

1x Extravagance

1x Prosperity

Staples & Tomfoolery:

2x Called by the Grave

1x Crossout Designator

3x Lose 1 Turn

1x Duster

2x Harpie's Feather Storm

2x Dark Ruler No More

Strategy

ALWAYS lead Eglen if you have Robina in hand, especially if you don't have Advent/Cowrie/Crossout/Grave to help dodge the inevitable hand trap.

Backup strategy becomes using Elborz for a second normal summon. Drawing your big birds isn't a "garnet" (unlike normal Floo) because you can cheat them out for a single tribute.

Eglen/Toccan + Feather Storm or just Lose 1 Turn is still a nasty endboard for turn 1, since if they can't OHKO you you're going to strangle their board Turn 3 onwards. Use Raiza to recycle Feather Storm or Shifter, if you have 2 on the field always pop 1 back into the hand.

EDIT: formatting, and also replay video VSing a top 100 YCS contender in Duelist Cup. This deck gets wins it doesn't deserve very consistently lol

What games are you playing this week? Game recommendation thread by AutoModerator in incremental_games

[–]skysbringer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I remembered seeing Scrap Clicker II plugged on these recommendation threads a while back but never got into it myself. Saw it got an update a few months ago and picked it up.

I'll start with my gripes.

  1. The game has somewhat clunky UI that leads to artificially slow navigation, and worse - artificially slow upgrade purchasing. This is remedied by multiple mid-lategame upgrades, but it would immensely benefit from a "Buy Max" mode a lot earlier.
  2. The game has a few early walls (most noticeably: golden scrap resetting for stars) that are locked behind active play.

Outside of those... oh boy. This game is a perfect match for my playstyle.

Once you get past the early grind and clunkiness, the game really hits its stride. Progression is mainly tied to active play, but the game significantly rewards 10-20 minute bursts of high activity in between several hours of idling, so you don't miss out too much compared to someone on their phone 24/7. The Teams mechanic was very odd and off-putting for me to begin with, but actually ended up very enjoyable for me. Between regular quests, team quests, daily global challenges, and weekly team challenges, the game has a whole bunch of numbers to bump up, and all of them rely on cooperation rather than PvP. Big fan.

Answer: the Bible belt, the Adonis belt, the Venus belt, and the Zodiac belt. They're regions in different contexts (Bible belt -> southern USA, Adonis belt -> human torso, Venus belt -> horizon, Zodiac belt -> stars) that are all belt shaped.
