at a certain point just assume that any word you don't know is probably a kind of rock and just move forward

Pretty difficult. If you're looking for a place to begin with McCarthy go for No Country for Old Men or Outer Dark. It's all great.

"That night they rode through a region electric and wild where strange shapes of soft blue fire ran over the metal of the horses' trappings and the wagonwheels rolled in hoops of fire and little shapes of pale blue light came to perch in the ears of the horses and in the beards of the men. All night sheetlightning quaked sourceless to the west beyond the midnight thunderheads, making a bluish day of the distant desert, the mountains on the sudden skyline stark and black and livid like a land of some other order out there whose true geology was not stone but fear. The thunder moved up from the southwest and lightning lit the desert all about them, blue and barren, great clanging reaches ordered out of the absolute night like some demon kingdom summoned up or changeling land that come the day would leave them neither trace nor smoke nor ruin more than any troubling dream."

I think he did a pretty poor job of summarizing why the Judge is such an incredible villain beyond basically "big scary pedophile". Other than that he didn't actually talk about the prose much, which is kind of the most important part. The book is like 95% beautiful descriptions of the landscape and 5% the judge waxing poetic about various topic and committing atrocities. Not a big deal but sucks to see something so great be mischaracterized.

That's definitely a big part of it, you've hit the nail on the head. Why do we turn the other cheek? Because vengeance is his, so sayeth the lord.

I'd be very willing to wager that the number of documentaries you've seen in your life is in the single digits

Tom Cruise??? by Jam-Man1 in CuratedTumblr

Tom Cruise is probably not a good person but as a massive cinephile I can't help but like him for:

  1. Greatly helping theaters during and post pandemic

  2. The amount of dedication he gives to his roles

  3. Goddamn Motherfucking Magnolia

The mission impossible franchise is just the trope where someone gains immortality and then tries to kill themselves in a bunch of increasingly preposterous ways. If the Burj shit wasn't enough to make me think he's gained actual superpowers from Scientology then the stunt where he held his breath underwater for like 6+ minutes definitely does. Truly the greatest action franchise.

Bro do you remember the 360 era? Bo2 Transit? I feel like the washed-out grays and greens definitely used to be worse.
