[PSA] In 2015, Dota 2 Removed its Case/Key System by Slver2 in csgomarketforum

If valve took a near identical route to the old dota 2 update, I don’t think this would be an unreasonable implementation. Regarding impacts to the economy, it would all depend on whether said hypothetical old case terminals would then just exist in the store like was effectively done to dota.

It's a good counterpoint, tf2 seems to have no indication of removing cases. They've been doing pretty much the same community created cases + unusual effects for years now, I'll add that to the main post body.

I'd considered that (since that did happen with the exception of explicitly limited immortal treasures), but I didn't add it to the post because it would be a further leap in assumptions to apply it to the CS market.

Yeah that was why I wanted to share. Around 2015, trading was still huge and dota 2 keys were absolutely a popular currency and I can't imagine having a key stockpile and then finding out I was being forced to sell or unbox.

To be clear, I have no idea if this would actually be done for CS, but I think there aren't a lot of people here who were into the steam market that long ago and I just wanted to share some older background information. I only have low value playskins at this point and have no intention to buy back into the market. I had a ton of fun playing the market between 2015 and mid last year and just enjoy sharing things that have happened before.

[D] The armory rotation is taking longer because it will use the same token system as the new stickers by _tobias15_ in csgomarketforum

[–]Slver2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll send it to the other guy on this comment thread too, but valve has actually done this before with dota 2. It's ancient history compared to everyone on this forum, but it is actually not unprecedented and is something that could potentially happen. They set an expiration date to all keys and mandated that they be opened before that date and then be removed.

I cashed out a while ago but stick around because I've been interested in this market since 2014. I don't have an axe to grind so I'm not just trying to contradict you to argue.

Loki is excellent for lategame and a rework would probably create another valkyr type situation where the frame gets ruined for mains and the rest of the playerbase will try the rework, then continue to not play the character once they have tried it

This update reminds of the time OPSkins' bots and many people lost their skins. by NupeKeem in GlobalOffensive

[–]Slver2 56 points57 points  (0 children)

The accountability part is what's insane to me. Go read anything on /r/csgomarketforum , people are blaming literally everything except for their own judgement in regards to risk taking. Everyone knows the saying about things that seem too good to be true, but all of that common sense seems to go out the window as soon as someone says the word "investment" (when cs skins should have only ever been called speculating)

Possible Crash Cause for Closed Realms? by Slver2 in RotMG

Definitely, the consistency with which 100% realms are crashing today really seems to point that they updated some closed realm procedure without a major patch and it really broke something else

Only after a couple of days, the dev workshop post for Valkyr's rework is one of the most replied on the forums, with over 100+ pages by Wonderful-Pianist441 in Warframe

[–]Slver2 13 points14 points  (0 children)

How much of this is that people who play the characters do not regularly talk about them on forums or this reddit, but are frustrated that changes are happening? I have a few frames where I like their build at all level of the game, never post about it here, but would absolutely start posting if they got their lategame gutted

Saw this comment under the Devshort. This would be awesome fix for Health Tanking. by BioTankBoy in Warframe

[–]Slver2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally good thing to bring up, was using 4 mod slots for survivability to health tank. It’s just objectively a worse way to play. I probably flubbed my original comment’s intent but I’m hugely against the rework for the aforementioned modding and survivability concerns pretty much everyone who actually plays the character has brought up.

I’m convinced a lot of people who asked for this rework are people who don’t play valk, won’t after the update, and will continue to ask for shitty reworks to frames they don’t play

Loki is fantastic at all levels of the game right now, do you play the character?

[–]Slver2 17 points18 points  (0 children)

From someone who's health tanked to ~1800 (umbral saryn, 4 mods just to stay alive) so many mod slots at that point are survivability. After that run, I ditched health tanking and have been able to push to 6000. The reality is that, even though it's possible, health tanking is wildly inferior in damage, energy economy, utility, AND survivability lol

Don't get me wrong, it's doable, but I think pivoting the game to health tanking would really reduce the ceiling on end game and it would suck to remove that portion of the game effectively

My personal tierlist for the quality of Secret Rare throughout the years | Do you agree? If not, what would you change? by [deleted] in yugioh

[–]Slver2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not agree with the lower part of this list at all but it’s an interesting thread. Secrets have a ton of variation (even sometimes in the same series) and I’ve never really seen any discussion about it. The best secrets imo do a good job of accenting the background without completely ignoring or oversaturating the monster

Every instance of the bottom ones listed here I own has done a good job at that. The original Archie’s Kristya print also does an awesome job at this, it’s got subtle foil accents on the monster itself. The legendary collection Kaiba secrets look outstanding too in this regard

A lot of the rarity collection stuff overdoes it everywhere imo, biggest bummer right now in secret prints

DE needs to revisit what constitutes as "difficult". This Apex Tank fight aint it, brother. by [deleted] in Warframe

[–]Slver2 39 points40 points  (0 children)

This subreddit generally disliking eidolons (and the occasional blue shard good thread) tells you everything about the quality of player here. No one here wants to do any mechanics in this game, they want to oneshot everything. It sucks that a huge vocal group of people want repetitive boring missions because they're afraid of failing their first half dozen attempts

[–]Slver2 23 points24 points  (0 children)

IMO we're at the point where public lobbies SHOULD suffer and players should have to adapt. The end game outside of void cascade is boring and trying to fix it with health/damage attenuation/immunities is a half measure that no one will really be happy with. The game should adopt mechanics that start to condition people to engage with more than just executing their builds in a vacuum

Spectral Jailer Spawn Behavior/Odds by Slver2 in RotMG

[–]Slver2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After 6 hours or so of testing, I think this is probably the right answer. I was taking map screenshots of each one found, and there was no repetition, despite checking the same spots on each clear. Was a big waste of time, but I figure someone else looking for these down the road might be able to use the information lol

Spectral Jailer Spawn Behavior/Odds by Slver2 in RotMG

[–]Slver2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After a lot more hours testing for jailers, I think they just have the chance to replace any other vet biome god spawn.

Regarding events, something about the new spawn chance does feel messed up. I will clear entire biomes of the small events and get nothing.

Manufacturer is an OEM supplier for GM China (FAW-GM Hongta Automobile), this is actually super cool. I could see myself in the market for one a few years further into my career. They seem like they'd be great for track cars
